OSU5NC

Senior
I started into this on another thread, but I hope that everyone is absolutely pumped for this game. OSU needs this win more than any other this year. They need to defend their homefield, regain some confidence, and establish an identity. OSU draws energy from the crowd a lot of times. You could feel it for '01 NU, '02 PSU, '02 Mich, and '03 Iowa. Let's make this one of those games that everyone remembers for being deafening. Come Saturday, there'll be no time for moping, only cheering and backing the Buckeyes 100%. Save the griping for another time and help the Bucks get this season back on track. This Wisconsin team finds any and every way to get any sort of edge on Ohio State and it really steams me. They hold our D-Line constantly and don't get called. They exploit some loophole to get 2 games in their home stadium, including a night game in a rainstorm. They injure our star RB in 2002 and put him out for a few games after the result of the game had already been decided. They ruin our 19-game winning streak. They get lucky plays (and I mean lucky) in '99 (Wiley fumble going in for a TD) and '01 (Groom's punt is blocked) to overcome 17 point deficits in our stadium and then have the nerve to claim that they own The 'Shoe. They're generally regarded as the worst fans in the Big Ten and treat opposing fans like crap. They're oh so cocky about being 2-1 against Tressel and having some success against OSU in the last few years, despite the 51-16 overall margin. They're coming into our stadium, threatening another streak (18 games in a row there), and looking to take us out of the Big Ten race early on. Who do these Badgers think they are that they can do that, and why would we sit idly by and let it happen? Get excited, and help lift the Buckeyes defense. Confuse and intimidate Stocco. Get into it, because your volume will impact the result of this game. We need to end these struggles with Wisconsin NOW, and beat them.. BAD! I hate those damn Badgers, and I want this game only slightly less than that game in late November. The bullcrap with Wisconsin needs to stop now, and we need to smack them in their smug faces! STOMP THE BADGERS!! DIE BUCKY, DIE!!

Gosh on 3 more days........... Seriously ever since the loss my life has been changed this week. I've been mixing it up and just trying to stay busy so I won't have to think about last week! I dispise the badgers more than ANY team and that even includes our rival! GO BUCKS!!

I was doing the same thing this week. I didn't even look at any of the message boards until Tuesday. I am over the loss now. We just need to take care of business at the shoe this Saturday and we will be back on track. I will be there this Saturday for the first time this year. I can't wait. O-H

Fire Up, Bucks!

You are exactly right. Wisconsin has been our nemesis for the past 20 years, perhaps as much so as scUM. Beating them in a normal year, when tOSU is cruising, is a hugely important challenge. But beating them this year, at home, when we are struggling mightily to mesh as a team, is more important than ever.

It will be a challenge and the proverbial 'gut-check' for the players. Stopping their huge O-line and the power running game will be challenge number 1. As Alvarez himself says, they don't get great skill-athletes out of Wisky high schools as JT does in Ohio, but they've got lots of very big bulls to put on their line. IMHO our great linebackers will not be enough to save the day. The D-line will need to plug holes like never before.

Challenge 2 is scoring against their unbelievably effective defense. The old axiom that great defenses should 'bend but not break' doesn't really apply to them, because they hardly ever even bend. We have the athletes on offense to beat them, and the home crowd should be a huge motivator for peak performances. Let's hope that spreading the line with Holmes, Hall, Childress and Ginn will loosen up the Wisky run defense for Lydell and Pittman. And let's hope that one or two of those receivers have a gamebreaking day. It would sure be sweet to see Ginn break-out this Saturday. One or two early long completions to him should let Holmes have a field day, assuming Zwick has get them the ball.

Because it's so important, Saturday will also be a good day to have some Pepcid handy. Win or lose, it's gonna be a very high anxiety proposition. If nailbiting and screaming at the TV screen helps at all, we should be in good shape.
