Gino and Dantonio running their necks a bit

Gino for Zwick?

So Chuck, just playing devil's adv here, if you could swap Gino for Zwick, you would do so? Throw out eligibility left issues and base this on talent/potential.
Excellent question. I wonder JT would take if given the opportunity. I'd bet JT would start the Senior Gino over Zwick.

To directly answer your question - I probably would, too, but it is very unfair. I haven't seen JZ play except in two spring games. Of Gino, what I have seen is that he moved the ball against one of the best (if not THE best) defense in the country in 2002.

Good question, OSUGRAD.

BTW, all I meant is that on that day, UC hung with OSU (okay, minus MoC) and coulda, woulda, shoulda...if two very catchable balls weren't dropped in the end zone, history would be oh, so different.

I cannot say that I blame Gino for trying to fire up his troops, I can see why they still feel a sting from 2 years ago. Perhaps we'll knock Gino out early so he'll be able to thoroughly analyze how OSU beats them this time, and the positives that they can take from the loss.

If Cincy was smart they would shut the hell up.

I also remember MoC not playing, multiple OSU turnovers, miracle catches by UC players earlier in the game, a Gamble TD called back by a bullshit penalty, OSU playing flat and UC playing like it was the freakin superbowl, a 4th and 1 spot we got screwed on and still getting the W. They played well, but be fair-OSU helped them quite a bit.

The difference between an elite team and a C-USA team is that our B game is better than their A game. Problem for UC this year is they don't get us flat-they get us for a home opener, with former OSU coaches and the memory of '02 still fresh in a lot of OUR players minds. No ambush here and that means no W for UC once again.

Exactly, not to mention a piece of shit field. I think we f*ck Guidagli up this game.

To be honest, the pass defense was not playing well at all at that point. As good as we were against the run, I think we were in the 90's, maybe lower, against the pass nationally. Some of that was due to the fact that teams basically abandoned the run and threw the entire game. Fox only had a couple games of corner under his belt and McNutt was playing injured. This was also our first glimpse of Gamble at corner. I'll still never forget wondering what the hell he was on the field for and then seeing him make an interception.

I thought this game was on the Plus. It's not nationally televised is it?

There were a lot of things wrong with the articles research but Gino is either going to leave the game with a concousion(spelling?), or he will find a way to keep it close maybe even beat us. This could be one of those games where Coach D, knowing our personel, goes after Fox.

I am not kidding when I say I am concerned about this game.

The other thing that could happen, although I wouldn't bet on it, is they are so high coming into this game that they make a bunch of mistakes.

We'll see.

I hope you were being sarcastic. Even with a steep learning curve, if your team sucked before, and you come back with essentially the same team, doesn't it stand to reason that they'll still suck?
I am with you jib NC State fans are talking the same way. They lost 5 games last year and the best QB in team history and they are talking about how much better their team is going to be this year.

Cincinnatti owes us more then one they have not beat us in the 1900s or 2000s

We're talkin' about a friggin' team that's middle of the pack in Conference USA! Yes, I know that OSU was fortunate to win last time. Sometimes things like that happen, but it doesn't mean that there's any equality. The talent mismatch here is substantial. If OSU doesn't drill this team, there's something wrong in the world.

Found this on a UC site, not earth shattering smack but slightly annoying none the less.

The UC fans are signing the same song as Marshall and NCSU right now-"best team in years/we catch OSU reloading/we almost beat them last time/yadda,yadda,yadda".

If you believe the different MB's out there OSU isn't going to win a game untill we play IU and there are going to be 10 B10 champs and about 100 NC's. :wink2:

In fairness to UC, everytime they have played the buckeyes, they have been a play or two away from beating us. In 1999 OSU won 34-20 but it only a 3pt lead going into the 4th. In 2002 we all know how close the bucks came to losing that one.

Dantonio will have them believing that they can catch the bucks not really ready to play. IMO this again will be a very close game. Somewhere on the order of 24-20 or 24-13 type score

I'm still not that worried. I want the team to be worried, but I think that if we're all smart enough to realize that we need to throw different things at Dantonio to win, then JT is, too. They'll run different looks, and hopefully come out even MORE aggressive on D. I'd love it if we blitzed Carpenter on every play.

He could be a great coach, but I'm not sold on him yet. I still think we take it by 2 TD's.

Just to illustrate this point a bit more, look at what UC did in 2003:

2003-Cincinnati (CUSA)

9/1 vs East Carolina (1-11) W 40 3
9/13 @ West Virginia (8-5) W 15 13
9/20 vs Temple (1-11) W 30 24
9/27 @ Miami (Ohio) (13-1) L 37 42
10/4 vs Southern Mississippi (9-4) L 20 22
10/11 @ Alabama-Birmingham (5-7) L 14 31
10/25 vs Army (0-13) W 33 29
10/31 @ South Florida (7-4) L 17 24
11/8 vs Rhode Island (non-IA) W 31 24
11/15 @ Texas Christian (11-2) L 10 43
11/22 @ Memphis (9-4) L 16 21
11/28 vs Louisville (9-4) L 40 43
2003 Record: 5-7-0
2003 total points UC/OPP: 303/319

Opp record:73-66(.525)
Their one quality win came in week 2 @ WVU other than that....

-they lost every other road game they played in
-4 of 5 victories were against ECU, Temple, Army, RI
-thats 3 teams with a combined record of 2-35 and a I-AA school
-3 of those 4 wins were by 7pts or less

Also, Dantonio's "best QB in Ohio" managed to guide an offense that averaged 61 ypg and .48 ppg more than OSU's offense in 2003. Thats while playing 5 teams in the bottom 1/3 of the NCAA in total D and a I-AA team. Forgive me if I am not impressed.

First off, how the hell did you get so many positive rep points in only 69 posts, Jaxbuck? Are you doing favors for the mods?

Second, and more along the lines of the point of this thread, I think it is high time that OSU started bitch slapping the teams that they're supposed to bitch slap. Yeah, I'm talking about you, Cincinnati, and you, San Diego State. Seriously, no disrespect intended to these programs - they've got some good players - but it is totally unacceptable for Ohio State to play a middle of the pack mid-major team for 60 minutes and completely fail to get any push on the offensive line. Ohio State simply should not have these hard-fought, sub-standard outings against teams that are at a different talent level. I look for that to end this year, and it starts in week 1.
