Yes - I do remember it, and anyone with half a brain who reads could tell that I really dont give a crap. However, with all of this chest pounding from you Sox fans have given me renwed vigor.

I find it hysterical that any Sox fan can even breath a word about choaking. The Yanks have won more WS in the last ten years than the Sox have in the last hundred, not to even mention the fact that you really havent won jack shit yet.

All I know is the last time that they were in the world series, their AS first basemen had possibly the biggest choak in US sports history, only to follow by a total collapse by the BloSox.

Ah....I feel better now.

I think a little chest-pounding was in order after we became the first team ever in MLB history to come back from 0-3 deficit to win a 7 game series. And doing it against the MFYs makes it even better. I think the word choke is definitely fitting.

Of course our baseball history is no comparison to what the MFYs have done. Nobody's is belittling the Yankees and dynasty they have built. Let us unfortunate fans, who have experienced more than our fair share of heartache, have a little moment in the sun.

You're awfully defensive for being a fan of the greatest baseball franchise in history not to mention a very casual fan at that. Methinks you were just looking for an excuse to spit your anti-Red Sox venom no matter what and you used our vicious chest-pounding as your vehicle.

It's ok to mask your true feelings behind the cloak of your supposed disinterest in baseball. I'm sure had the MFYs won last night you would have posted the same exact drivel.

I'm not a Red Sox fan by any stretch, but you sound almost as bad as tibor75 with your spin job on how the Yanks didn't choke worse than Mama Cass on a ham sandwich. The NYFY were up 3 games to 0, and that was after a 11-run destruction of Boston on the Red Sox home diamond, and yet couldn't win a single game thereafter. Throw in the mental aspect of "The Curse" and past Boston post-season failures, and you can see that NY had no business losing more than one, if any, of the remaining four games. Face it, this was THE greatest choke job in the history of American pro sports. It makes the Houston Oiler's playoff game collapse at Buffalo (in which they led 35-3 in the 3rd qtr before losing) look like a mild hiccup.

The truth is - as a psudo baseball Yankees fan - I dont really hate the Red Sox at all, or the Mets, or the Indians, etc., etc., etc......

Living in NY, I find it funny how so many Mets fans hate the Yanks! When I took a game in Fenway for the first time this summer (GREAT park, BTW), I couldnt believe the venom for the Yankees. I have never felt that way about the Sox. Why would I? The truth is, they, nor any other baseball team, has ever really given me a REASON to! Its like how some claim that UM didnt really hate OSU during the Cooper years (rewind - Moeller - "MSU is our biggest rival"). We gave them no reason to hate us, we became almost a joke the them year in and year out. For better or worse, until this year, the Mets, RedSox, Indians, etc, never really gave me any reason to hate them.

The Gods honest truth is that since 1994 I have had only a passing interest in the Yanks, and definitely not enough interest to hate any other team. (Ill even let you in on a secret - during the Subway series, I caught myself rooting for the Mets at times because I felt sorry for them). As far as the Sox in the Series, I admit, if given a choice Id rather have them lose to keep the curse alive because I think its a cool part of baseball nostalgia and funny to me in a way. But if they win, I really wont lose any sleep over it. As a side note, someone said to me once regarding this point that they really CAN'T win - if they win - they are just another team that won one World Series. Right now, they and the Cubs are unique. They win the WS, and they just lost a huge part of their nostalgia to be just another team that won one WS. Interesting if you think about it.

If you ask me about UM, I will tell you unequivocally that I hate them with a blind passion, and I would be fine if they never won another game. But the Sox? The Mets? The Tribe? Whatever. I like ribbing as much as the next guy, but what reason do I really have to hate them?

So feel free to take RedSox shots at me all you want. The truth is I really dont care....

...disinterested enough not to care when they choke.

Actually 27 - it really sucks for me to have quit the Yanks when I did - after 1994 is when they had their big run!

From 1976 to 1994 I followed them RELIGIOUSLY - like I follow our beloved Bucks now. But watching second place finish after second place finish for so many years during the 80s and sticking by them, and then in 94 when they had a real shot to go and those bastards went on strike - I pledged to never spend a dime of my own money ever again on a MLB game or apparel. Ten years later, I still have not. In full disclosure, I have went to games since, but only from free corporate tickets. Never on my own dime. Not once.

Perhaps another (but secondary) reason was the retirement of Don Mattingly. This guy was really a hero of mine - he was my favorite player his first year up in spring training - and I dont really know why. He was the guy in the order I always used to wait to see get up. When he left, I really never was able to find another guy to replace him with that hero status. Hence, my interest wanned even some more.

Finally - the ridiculous home run derby explosion since 87 has really sealed it for me. Ill watch - but I really dont care. Really dont.

how about the ridiculous yankees spending binge? thats why i hate baseball and only watch to root against the yankees.

which means my favorite team has won more titles than the yankees, since my favorite team is everyone except the yankees

27 - You do have a point. I remember when they started that in the 80s, I always felt that they should instead put the money into the farm system because it would pay more dividends over the long haul.

The amount of money they threw away was amazing - remember Brit Burns! He signed for all this money and never pitched because of a bad hip. How about the Jay Buhner for Ken Phelps trade! How about signing that retard BriEn Taylor to a $1MM contract, only to see his stupid ass get into a fight in a bar and never be the same again. It can go on and on. They are doing it again now, and it seems to have worked for a time, but I see shades of the old Yanks coming back. Look at the joke Giambi has become now hes off riods. I hear rumors now about them throwing $$ at Beltran. Could be the 80s all over again.
