It always disappoints me when I see stuff like gold pants or championship rings from former Buckeyes up for sale on ebay. I checked out the realbuckeyestuff.com site, and they had 2 pairs of pants and a couple of rings.

How can this stuff mean that little to those guys? At least I hope that real Buckeye fans end up buying it so it goes to someone who really appreciates it.

its not just players that get them. my brother used to work for the football team shooting video of practice/games and cutting tapes for players and coaches while he was a student. he got a pair of gold pants.

he wouldn't sell them, but you have to wonder how many trainers/team managers/video guys out there that might have a pair who don't have as much attachment to them as the players do.

I think the real question is how can anyone want to buy something like that? That kind of thing would be cool to see or touch, but I'd never want to buy a championship ring or anything else that someone earned, but I didn't. The only people who should have a ring, or in this case, the gold pants, are the players and staff. Other acceptible people, should the players choose to let go of them are parents, wives, or children of the people who deserved to have them.

I have seen several for sale on ebay but not as of late. BowlRings has a few pair for sale. It seems there is a collectors market emerging where people are buying gold pants allot more than they used to. I am seriously thinking of picking up a pair it's something I can afford ( rings are out of my price range) and wear to have a real bragging item whenever I watch the game.

Well, heck, there's a whole lot more of them have been given out in the last 7 years!

I can't fathom a player selling a ring or gold pants.

I think some of you guy's take this too seriously. Who gives anyone here the right to say if some one can sell his property. If you put up a car for sell should I be able to bash you for doing so? If they want to sell it it's their right. You all dont own the players you know. Take a look on ebay pro players and college sell their stuff all day long. There's tons of rings, jerseys and other stuff like that out there for any given team.

Who's doing any bashing here? Since you posted, there's been a "No fuckin comment" (BTW, that post is actually by a former tOSU football player), and an "I can't fathom a player selling" post.

We don't tolerate bashing any players on BP, but I don't see anything close to that in this thread lately.

Looking to Buy Gold Pants...If Possible

Hey everyone. I post here every so often (we'll see what the number in the top right corner says...I'm betting on 3...), but I read almost daily. I figured this would be the best place to turn for, hopefully, finding an answer to this question.

For Christmas I'm working on getting my girlfriend some OSU Football themed presents, and I wanted to include a gold pants charm if I could find them. This would really be the icing on top of the cake for the rest of the gift, but I think she would love it.

I'm a poor college student, so I don't have a ton of money (I saw some on eBay for $30...a little out of range). The gift is already costing me around $30-40, so somewhere in the teens might be more reasonable.

Any ideas?:osu:
