We have gotten about a foot with winds gusting at 50mph - so it is all in very tall drifts. Add that to the fact that there are no lawns or places for the snow to settle in Manhattan, and you end up with semi-okay streets and sidewalks and huge drifts between. One car in front of my apartment is pretty much covered.

We are to get about 2 feet total. Sushichic, in Boston, is going to get nailed the most of anybody in the northeast (well, not her specifically, but Boston as a whole. :) )

Our storm is supposed to be over today in the early afternoon-- though it just got sunny here right now.

Oh yeah - I have a basset hound. Poor dog tunnels through the snow more than walking on it. He loves it though. . .

We just came in from outside -- so amazing. The dog got stuck in a drift, and Manfred had to pull him out! Here are some photos I took...

The news just said that we have surpassed the total of the blizzard of '78.

We got hit pretty good here in Delaware- probably 10 inches where I live. Today it's very cold and blowing like crazy, so anything that hasn't been cleared off is going to drift.

My dogs (Goldens, like sushi's) are LOVIN' IT!! They've been outside as much as possible bouncing around in the snow like crazy.

I'm sore from shoveling yesterday....

Nice pics. Stay warm and safe up there. Who the hell is in the pics wearing a michigan jacket? If it gets bad enough you can burn that for warmth.

I would never let my fiance wear a Michigan jacket! It's a very ugly (purple and gold) jacket, but it's his ski jacket that he's had practically since birth. He won't part with it, even though I would love to burn it!

Sorry, it looked blue and yellow in the pictures.

We will have specifics on the snowfall amounts, but it would seem a general 6 to 12 inches (15 to 30 centimeters) of snow are likely in this swath with locally higher accumulations, especially over Quebec and anywhere downwind of the Great Lakes.
People within the snow area should expect blizzard conditions several hours after the snow begins as winds are expected to increase. There is the potential for whiteouts and road closures, which could strand motorists and people waiting for flights at airports.
...
Some of the snowbelts downwind of the Great Lakes could easily receive from 1 to 3 feet of new snow next week.
According to Expert Senior Meteorologist Brett Anderson, "The heavy load of snow may cause roofs to fail."
"If the snowfall happens as forecast, it could mean some locations will have 5 to 10 feet of snow on the ground from the most recent lake-effect, the storm and the new lake-effect," Anderson added.
...

i got an invite to the annual holiday party of an old college buddy who i used to work with (when his old man was running the company) needless to say ive turned down the offer assuming theyll be spending all weekend pushing snow

I saw on the news that it snowed nonstop in Syracuse for 95 hours and 10 minutes, a total of 39.6 inches. It stopped for a little while, and then started snowing again.

The mountains west of us have been getting hammered! Nuttin here in Fort Collins! I sure wish we would get some here so I can do some snow removal and earn some Christmas cash!
