I had refrained from posting what I wanted to in this thread with fear that I would be pidgeon holed as a stoner.

I use scissors, about once a week. I only cut what I need.

Babysitter update: New one starts next week, I have not met her yet, but my wife tells me she has already failed in one of my main job requirements. Small Rack. It will probably take me at least a week or so to find out about the other stuff.

I got a new lawn mower last year to mow the acre we have to mow. The best lawn mower I have ever had. My new mower is my oldest son and at first he thought it was so cool that he was given the responsibility of mowing, but by the end of the mowing season, he realized it wasn't cool/fun anymore.

The enemy of every nice lawn is Dog Urine

The reason the males urine is easier on the lawn than the females is that females 'dump' a large amount of urine at once. Kind of like "open the hatch" and everything spills out at once and into a small location. The males don't squat or don't squat as low to the ground as the females and this allows for the urine to cover a larger area and dilute the nitrogen a little more. Males can still burn the lawn but not as bad as females. There is no real difference is nitrogen levels from males to females it is only how they disperse it.

I have one male Shepard (Full Grown)and one female English mastiff (6 months) and the female does burn the lawn more than the male.
My vet recommended Grass Saver by NaturVet. One pill a day thrown into the food is all you need. It is supposed the alter the PH in the urine so the nitrogen is naturally diluted and wont burn as bad.

I have some on order but haven't tried it yet. My vet is a little skeptical but says to try it either way it wont hurt the dogs.

The one thing I do everytime I take them out is to carry a large 32oz cup of water and dump it on the piss spots as soon as they are finished. if you can dilute the nitrogen it will prevent it from burning the grass. You don't have to do it immediately, you can do it up to a day or two later.

If you have ever over fertilized your yard the same thing happens. The nitrogen in the fertilizer will burn the shit out the ground. the only way to save it is to flood it to wash it away.

Once I receive the pills and try them for a couple of weeks I will try to remember to update the thread with the results


****EDIT****
Antoher helpfull trick is use a gypsum or lime powder directly on the spot or spots. If you ue lime be very carefull and make sure you wear neoprene gloves when you handle it. It is very caustic and can and will burn the shit out of bare skin. After you apply the powder pour water over it to help it sink in.

Did you find this made a difference? I have my lawn treated and they want to charge me $30 extra this treatment for grub control. My neighbors don't treat their lawns and I don't see a problem with moles.

From what I have learned.. the hard way

grubs eat the roots of the grass
grubs will grow up to be beetles
moles eat the grubs but lifts the dead grass up and leaves mole tunnels
beetles will grow up and eat the leaves and maybe kill your trees
beetles are extremely annoying when you're outside

kill the grubs
don't kill the moles... until you have killed the grubs
else you will not have a lawn
the moles will leave when its food source is gone

and if not, you can borrow Sparky... the cat that adopted us
