since there is a lot of bragging going on, but it's ALLLLL in regards to stomping the CPU.............i made it into the top 100 online in NCAA 2004 legitimately, (ie., no glitching, and with a legitimate non-cheesy AI abusing style of play)

for those of you that are familiar with 2004 online, you know that making the top 100 legitimately is basically like making the top 15-25, because there were THAT many cheaters

i played almost exclusively highly ranked guys, played a straight game, and would use ANNNY TEAM as long as matchup was even, so my record was a not over-whelming 65-70%, and my average yds/game were like 310 for and 250 against, avg. score like 27-20

although i made a separate name and on this name played softer, mid-level, "average" competition, with some scrubs thrown in just to prove a point............because so many guys beat up on scrubs just to have impressive stats using only Miami, Fla.St., OSU, etc. (not to mention the guys who glitched and played cpu to build ridiculous stats)..........i used almost only OSU and Oklahoma on this name with some other teams to mix it up..........i had a lot of fun with it because everyone would accuse me of being a cheater and a glitcher and i'd get challenged by scrubs all the time, and i loved murdering them after talking so much trash............under this name i was like 45-1 (still can't believe i lost), average score 44-8, yards were around 400-210 per game

oh yeah there was a league created on Bucknuts too that i steam-rolled through (and got to crush BrettgoBlue's Michigan squad several times)...............granted this was 2004, but i never invested that much time or energy into 2005, mainly because i was LITERALLY the best in the country at User Picks (remember i played all the best guys, so i know, and many agreed), and the db control was a lot different in '05, i just didn't feel like investing the time to master a whole new offensive AND defensive system, and there were other things that took precedence...........so i pretty much waned off of '05

I believe last year or the year before, Joey Galloway was ranked #1 in the nation in online NCAA. He's was on Herbie's show here in CBus and mentioned it and Herbie backed up Galloway b/c he'd go over to Joey's and Joey would always stomp a mudhole in Kirk.

that's interesting.........i find it a bit difficult to believe simply because of the amount of time you have to invest to become that good........and i wouldn't think Joey Galloway would have that kind of time.......maybe he was just saying it as an exaggeration, like saying "i'm the best", just guessing

Kirk said that all Joey ever did was play NCAA. He said in the off-season he would play all day every day.

Said that during the season he would go home after practice and play until bedtime.

I think it was perfectly legit.

First, I think you should read the thread a little closer before you make an all inclusive statement.

I don't mess with sliders because I like to be able to simulate how the game will be when I play against my friends. I like being able to predict what the AI will do in situations. I am still undefeted (27-0) against human opponents as a result of using AI to prepare me.
Second...I don't recall anyone on this thread (until today) bragging that they are vastly superior to other board members, nor have we tried to "one-up" other posters. I can't speak for everyone else, but I have participated in this thread because I enjoy the game and like to hear how other people play and cool things that they have done. If we really wanted to prove who was the best on the board, we'd have done it on the field. This is (maybe I should say "was") just a fun subject to talk about. One of the most interesting stories was actually the one about methomps' 1 point game...and that was primarily about a game glitch!

...I had two friends that would kick the crap out of me in 2004 and that I have beat consistently in 2005. 2005 is much more difficult to rack up great offensive stats, and I have found going back to 2004 makes it entirely too easy to pass and to cut (you will find user picks more difficult with inertia and with more emphasis on batting balls down). 2006 will come out and being the best at 2005 will suddenly become irrelevant as well.

Joey Galloway is exaggerating, but the man only known as "MistriBuck" on a message board speaks only cold hard facts when he claims he is superior to the rest of the nation? :roll1:

I think the difference between you and the rest of the people on this board is that we are self-aware. I know I'm not the best person in the country, I'm probably not even in the top 5 in Findlay...In fact, I've only played friends so I can only prove that I'm the best among the small group of us that play the game...and I'm fine with that. I don't need to compensate for anything by trying to prove I'm a stud gamer on some message board.

On a final note, there is a major problem that I have with you. More often than not, you do nothing but confront people and make inflammatory remarks. This thread was going along just fine, in fact I found it entertaining. All of the sudden, you feel it's your place to tell everyone that their posts and stories are worthless because they involve computer opponents. Have noticed a pattern of your posts getting split into the reference locker? It's because you are a flaming troll who offers very little substance and a lot of narcissistic exaltation. You dismiss your problems on this board as "mob" mentality...but you have been the common denominator in all of it. God forbid MistriBuck is to blame in anything, you are the only one who is right and everyone else is chronically wrong.

So let's all bow down to the superiority of MistriBuck...We should all be grateful that he has decided to grace us with his presence on this thread.

Thump.............gotcha man, i didn't mean to discredit what you were saying, sounds legit to me, i just thought it sounded odd, and thought maybe you heard it wrong, but obviously you didn't

All of the sudden, you feel it's your place to tell everyone that their posts and stories are worthless because they involve computer opponents
jesus christ, talk about reference locker material, hi-jacking a thread and making it not fun............somebody needs to lighten up................i'm not even going to address most of your ramblings because you are so far off base, and IMO picked the wrong place and time to take air your issues with me..........but wow, it sure must be a great gift to have to be able to see through people's souls and be able to decipher with 100% certainty exactly what their feelings and intentions are, i'm impressed

all i will say is, i didn't tell everyone their stories were worthless???? are you crazy???................did i portray that i'm good at the game? sure of course i did.................but all i did was state that everyones' (or as you pointed out, most) stories were about the computer, so i would tell my accomplishments online against human opponents............i don't recall saying "you all need to bow down to me, you're all worthless", i simply stated my accomplishments, i thought that's what this thread was about????............and since i haven't played 2005 very much, and therefore have no accomplishments to speak of, i thought i would add to the thread by speaking of 2004

i know your intention was to try and make me look like an arrogant ass, but i think you succeeded in making yourself look like an ass by going off the deep end about my post, and not simply taking it for what it was worth

Oh My Bad Buckeyenation27, I did not realize you invented 2005 NCAA Football,

I thought that Al Gore Did all this Time.

It does not matter if I play only 8 minutes Quaters, I still have a good Defense.

I will check with you next time on NCAA 2005 issues :osu:

Hopefully this post will get rid of some of the uncomfortability I caused, and get us back onto the subject of cool NCAA Football 200X feats. Mistri and I cleared up everything through PM's but I thought I should offer a more public apology because I obviously misinterpreted his intent when I jumped on him earlier. It was my bad, and rather then deleting the post and pretending it didn't happen, I'm going to apologize and commend Mistri for keeping a pretty level head considering the circumstances.

Back to the game...

The other day, I played against a friend with him having home system advantage (X-box). Keep in mind I have only touched an X-box a few times, as I am a Playstation 2 guy (mainly because of the controllers). Well, I struggled passing because of the whol A,B,X,Y thing and pressing white and black instead of R1, R2, L1, L2 or whatever was really screwing with me.

Luckily my defense was carrying me and I was up 28-7. Early in the 4th quarter, I didn't want to rub it in, but I didn't want to give him the ball back with a chance to score so on 4rd and 4, instead of running I came out of the shotgun and decided I was going to take my QB on a bootleg for the first. My QB had beat him with his legs all day and I thought 4 yards was childs play.

Just as I took down the passing icons and started to roll, I realized I was in trouble as he had a guy blitzing to the outside and I'd be lucky to get back to the line of scrimmage, so I bring my passing icons back up and see that if I press "X" I might have a chance of completing the pass. In a rush of instinct, I press the button and notice the pass is flying nowhere NEAR the right direction. This is when I remembered my instinct of Playstation X = X-Box A. Well it was a stroke of good luck, as I had failed to locate a zoned defender who would have at least knocked down the pass if it were to "X".The "A" receiver however was just releasing out of his cut and I hit him in stride, just over the outstretched arm of the corner for a 57 yard touchdown pass.

My friend was amazed, he didn't know how I saw that receiver, but he had heard about my unbeaten streak and just assumed that it was business as usual. My respect for the game and for gaming etiquitte required that I tell him what happened, and to apologize for the slop/gift from the gaming gods. Nonetheless, it was an awesome play. I got one more possession and ran every play (including several kneel downs) and held the ball for the last few minutes to finalize it at 35-7...but I will never forget "the play" and I may never play 2005 on X-Box again. haha.

After reading this thread (at least the non-pissing match part :wink2: ) the other day, I decided to try a couple quick challenges. I was tOSU and beat MSU in the 1998 game.

Then I figured I give the Cal "kick return through the band" game. That scenario starts with the other team kicking the go ahead field goal, to then put you at the kick return with very little time left. Well, to my luck, the kicker missed the FG, so I never even had to worry about the kick return. It was a damn good thing to, since I never seem to be able to get KR TDs.

Oiler and i did clear things up, it's no biggie, like i told him, i understand how he could interpret my post the way he did based on some of my recent posts and the way i've been perceived on here..............but for the record i would stomp the hell out of you Oiler, whether '05, '04, or freaking '98 :p

that's a funny story about the X-box, that transition is a bitch.........i have a buddy w/ x-box that i play full seasons with and after doing it for 3 years, i still pitch the ball while trying to stiff arm sometimes, etc.

It was a damn good thing to, since I never seem to be able to get KR TDs.
used to take it to the house all the time in '04, i don't think i have ever done it in my limited time playing '05 or know anyone personally who has, what's up with that?

that reminds me too, i had a Cal-Stanford type comeback against a dude online last year, it was crazy............he was a buddy of mine and our games always came down to the wire, so he didn't take it too hard, but it was FSU vs. Auburn, i was Auburn, he goes up with :03 left and kicks off.............i pitched it twice, the second one to Cadillac, not by design, out of sheer luck and he was GOOOOONE<!-- / message -->
