Another good one that should be mentioned

What was that one game called? Mighty Bomberman? Mighty Bomberman Jack? That was pretty good. We used to play that for hours and days and then a couple more minutes. That might have been Super Nintendo, though. And how about the old NHL games. We used to put four of us on one team and play against the computer. We'd turn off penalties and crash into the goalie (who'd beat up 2-3 of us) and then we'd chase after the guy with the puck and beat him up.

Possibly the most fun I've ever had playing any video game was with the first or second NBA game for PlayStation1, and with some NBA game for the Dreamcast. We'd create a new team, put some huge mo-fo's in there and some tiny dudes in there who could dunk. We'd turn off penalties and it would be pretty funny watching four of us fighting with the other team. The Dreamcast version was better, because you could change the players' appearance a lot more. The dude I made was always either as big and fat as you could make him (it was hilarious watching this fat lard-ass dunking over Shaq), or I'd make a guy who looked more like a Hershey's Kiss than a real person (his upper body was virtually non-existent, while his lower body was as fat as I could make it).

Ahh.. good times. Are there any games like that for PS2?

Did I mention I have a working NES?
Bwa ha ha, I have 3, and ones a top loader :wink2: I've also got 450+ games, none of which are ROMs. People ask why not just download them...its more fun to collect, especially the rare ones :)

I've never felt like you can have one game as the greatest ever, because when you deal with genres its like comparing apples to oranges to swords to...TVs...you get the idea. Heres some great ones, each a little different.

Super Tecmo Bowl - Best pigskin game there was, although the 100 yard passing was a little unrealistic. Still a great game, can't go wrong with Da Bears or San Fran.
Punch Out - Ruled the boxing games, loved hitting certain bosses with a power punch at the right time to put them down ( see 2nd fight ).
Base Wars - Greatest. Baseball game. Ever. Robots, weapons, baseball...it was awesome. There was nothing sweeter than stealing a base, finding your opponent at 2nd with the ball, then fighting to the death to see if you're out or not. Fun game for 2 players.
River City Ransom - Great game for 2 players. Beat up thugs, take their lunch money, use it to buy cool upgrades like super fast Dragon Feet.
Super Dodge Ball - Another good sports game, and the teams certainly were diverse. I loved taking India ( think it was India ) and using the character "Swami" on my team. That boy could take more hits than a Terminator, frustrates my buddies all the time.
Tengen Tetris - Very rare Tetris game released by a 3rd party ( they used to have the black cart games with a slant to them ). The music was better in this game than Nintendo's version, plus they had a 2 player mode where you had to work together on one screen...one person moves a piece, the other flips it.
Super Glove Ball - Great for groups of people, and besides...you had to have some game you knew worked with a Power Glove, heh heh.
World Class Track Meet - See above, except with a Power Pad. What people played novelty-wise if they didn't have a Power Glove.
Metal Gear - A cool shooter game where you could switch your gravity at will, which also introduced a puzzle-like atmosphere.
Contra - Nuff said. Beating it using the old Konami code is one thing, beating it without the code and no continues is more fun
Castlevania II: Simon's Quest - Best Castlevania for NES IMO, and really launched the series which is still going. Flame whips are sweet.
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles II - An arcade classic that was also fun to play at home.
Super Mario 3 - Nuff said.
Legend of Zelda - As far as Adventure/RPGs go, this one is a classic and started it all for the series. I have a fond place in my heart for the original Dragon Warrior, but Zelda was a better game. The sequel to Zelda was also pretty fun.

Apparently, no one knows the answer.

Did Super Tecmo bowl have the 100-yd passes? I thought that had changed after the original Tecmo Bowl. I could be wrong, though.
Da Bears seriously kicked ass in the Tecmo Bowl, but I was all about Barry Sanders and the Lions in Super Tecmo Bowl.

Better music? Better than Peter Tchaikovsky's Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy? Better than music from Georges Bizet's Carmen? As if! :p

Tengen was the same group that released the RBI baseball games, right? Same slanted black cartridge. Those games pissed me off! Sometimes you would go to catch the ball and it would just hit your guy and fall to the ground, making an obnoxious noise. Lousy errors.
In RBI 2, Eckersley was unhittable playing against another person. With that sidearm delivery, it was damn near impossible to tell where the ball was going until it crossed the plate for a strike!

Download a Rom of Tengen Tetris, if you can find one. :) The music is better imo, but what really makes the game better is that two player co-op. Its crazy because you have to communicate with your partner, or at least know what hes already thinking...gets tough at higher levels. Fun to play when you're drunk

My buddies and I play that game to this day. It's in my NES right now actually. This is definitely my favorite game to play multiplayer on the Nintendo by a landslide.
If we are talking about strictly one person then I'll go with Maniac Mansion since nobody has mentioned it yet.
