Greg Paulus (HC Niagara University)

As has been speculated, we might need a new video coordinator
The naming of Duke assistant Chris Collins as Northwestern’s basketball coach may result in a promotion for Ohio State video coordinator Greg Paulus.

Paulus was point guard at Duke when Collins was an assistant on coach Mike Krzyzewski’s staff, and a source told Scout.com that he would join Collins at Northwestern as an assistant. Paulus played quarterback at Syracuse for a season and was an assistant basketball coach at Navy before joining Thad Matta’s staff as video coordinator, which doesn’t allow on-the-floor coaching duties.

Paulus smiled when asked about the rumors on Wednesday at Ohio State’s practice in Los Angeles but declined to comment.

Unless there's a hard deadline (with the new school), the one thing Paulus may want to do is wait until all the moves are made. If Boals, Dickerson or Jent move onto a head coaching job, there's an assistant position right there with the Buckeyes.

And I'd rather be a full-time assistant with Ohio State than Northwestern.

I know everyone who likes basketball knows this but I need a post.

COLUMBUS, Ohio – When Chris Collins was hired as Northwestern's new basketball coach, there were reports during the NCAA Tournament that Ohio State video coordinator Greg Paulus, who had played at Duke while Collins was an assistant there, might be in line for a job on Collins' staff.

That didn't happen.

But Paulus did get a full-time assistant's job – with the Buckeyes.

Paulus was named by Thad Matta today to replace Chris Jent, who left Ohio State to return to the NBA as an assistant with the Sacramento Kings. Matta's three full assistants are Dave Dickerson, Jeff Boals and Paulus.

For Paulus, who will turn 27 on Wednesday, this is a big step in what looks like a bright career. A former two-sport high school star and Duke point guard who then played quarterback at Syracuse for one year, he's a Big Ten assistant well before he's 30.

He was the Buckeyes' video coordinator for two years after formerly serving as an assistant coach at Navy.

Replacing Paulus as the video coordinator will be a familiar name to OSU fans, if not a familiar face. It's Jake Diebler, the older brother of former Buckeye Jon Diebler. He played basketball at Valparaiso and had been serving in the same video role for the Crusaders.

Ohio State also released its nonconference basketball schedule for the year and will open the season on Nov. 9 against Morgan State.

Pretty sure he will be bye-bye unless Holtmann can have 4 assistants which I do not think he can have.. Maybe he will take back his old job as a video coordinator.. If not, best of luck to him in finding a job.
