Greg Schiano (HC Rutgers Scarlet Knights)

REPORT: GREG SCHIANO DRAWING INTEREST FOR NFL DEFENSIVE COORDINATOR VACANCIES

"Interest" is a far cry from "interview" or "hire," but Schiano has proven ready to depart Urban Meyer's nest for the right opportunity. Schiano last coached in the NFL in 2013 as head coach of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

So he’s likely not on staff in the near future it sounds like. I guess I naively thought he was here another year after the UT fiasco. I figured that showed he wanted to stay in college and would let things settle down for a year and enter the carousel of college HC rounds next year. In retrospect though, a guy with his pedigree was already taking a big reset for 2 years under Urban. It’s surprising he came back for year 2.

One thing is for sure ... no recruit can (legit) claim to be "shocked" or "surprised" after he was nearly the HC at Tennessee. I'd like to think outside of Drayton and a lifetime offer these guys are upfront with recruits
