Greg Schiano (HC Rutgers Scarlet Knights)

Completely disagree

Brandon White alone was a massive improvement.

Okudah and Wade both came on.

Sheffield and Arnette are what they are.
We had five PIs in The Game. Two by Arnette, one each by Sheffield, Wade, and Fuller. You hold your breath for a PI call every time the opposing QB throws the ball more than 10 yards downfield.

I'll give the kids a pass on the PIs. The only way the shit B1G refs don't call PI on Ohio State DBs is if they leave the receivers uncovered. It's gross. I was amazed that they didn't throw a flag on Okudah on that 4th & 7 against Northwestern.

PI is like holding to these terrible refs. They call it on the Buckeyes, but not on their opponents.

FUUUUUUUCK..... nothing pisses me off more than "the refs robbed us" and "the SEC plays a pussy schedule"..... dammit to hell.

Execute. Turn to the ball (coaching and discipline) and wrap the receiver (did I mention coaching and discipline) and good things will come.

Godalmighty...... since when does tOSU whine like this?

Disagree with bold. It may be a shock, but football is played throughout the nation, Ohio isn't the only state. And tOSU has actually gotten a number of actual LBs(Hilliard, Jones, Werner, Borland, Booker, Gant, Mitchell, Pope) but they haven't been properly coached. I think a combo of athletes and instinctual LBs is needed in the CFB of today, because LBs better be able to cover in space. A guy like Darron Lee is a prime example of a pure athlete, and I'm sure no Buckeye fan would not have wanted to see him in S&G. Yes, he was a project, but he wasn't a pure, instinctive LB either. The coaches have been doing these kids no favors, and put them in positions to lose rather than have the advantage. There is immense talent in the LB room(and on the defense as a whole) and saying just going after mainly OH kids, isn't the right answer, IMO. Go after the best, regardless of where they're from. And we can have the kid from St. Iggy and the kid committed to Iowa, but if Davis and Schiano are coaching them, it wouldn't matter one bit

I think Lee only superficially makes your point.
1. Ohio kid.
2. 3star prospect
3. The recruit rankings people didnt want him. It was Fickell standing on a table demanding him. Fickell, the guy looking for instincts above pure athleticism and hype.

Lee is actually a great example of Jax' point.

I am not so quick to jump on Schiano given past results...we have a completely incompetent LB coach that needs to pack his box, Grinch is on thin ice with the performance in his first season here, and the secondary was pretty green. There are a lot of other variables here and Schiano has had plenty of success here and elsewhere (on the field and recruiting). Make no mistake, he is going to need to have the defense playing much better next year. But I think a lot of posters are having a short memory with Schiano.

I dont think the issue is necessarily Schiano, but Davis aside... seems like a repeat of Fick/Withers... whose Withers here?
I cant answer that either.
But i do know S wants to move on as a HC somewhere else. And G was brought in to do his job. That tells me the future is with G, not S.

Personally, I think that was Withers looking back to that situation. I think in the upcoming year, the situation should be simple and we will find out if Schiano is really a key issue...fire Davis, try to retain everyone else. Davis has an incredibly talented LB group and has woefully underperformed irrespective of everyone else, there is just no justifying how that group has performed since he has taken over. Then look at the rest of the defensive staff... LJ Sr is one of the best DL college coaches to have done it...Taver Johnson had wild success here with many underrated guys in the secondary before he came back. Then you have Schiano, who did great things here and before he came. Grinch is a completely unknown commodity who I hoped would work out, but who has proven nothing yet. Maybe they just don't work well together, maybe one is better than the other...all I know is Schiano has more of a leg to stand on at this point with his careeer and I think many posters (not you specifically) are being a little over the top on criticizing GS personally.

I guess im saying i dont think either of them, individually, is a problem. But defense just doesnt seem to have a cohesive vision.
I dont know that either is Withers but not sure the defense will function with 2 Chiefs ... and we know Schiano wants to be a Head Coach. He either needs to commit as DC here longterm or find that opportunity before next season imo.
