Harrison remark, Intentional?

Best Buckeye

Pretending I'm a pleasant person is exhausting.

Where's the fallout over Harrison's rude racist remark? his use of the "N" word?
Where's Al Sharpton and all the others when you need them?
Where's the media overflow on this?
"First I want to apologize for my poor choice of words used in jest towards a player I respect and know. When I realized how this could be perceived I immediately called Big Frank to apologize and let him know I didn't mean any disrespect. We had a good conversation and I wished him good luck in the championship game Monday."

Was it intentional? Certainly....when you mutter something like that in the situation he was in - just lost an emotional game, didn't play all that great, 1st loss of the season, etc etc - you lose the ability to be tactful.

Was it intentionally harmful? Nope. It's just a semi-literate man-child using street slang to describe someone who just kicked their ass.

Huh? How do you equate the stupidity of what he said with that?

Here's a quick breakdown for all of the people who are outraged today by the lack of outrage, which is outrageous considering all the outrage I'm seeing from outraged white people:

1. Harrison said an idiotic thing about a specific person, not an entire race. And the use of the term wasn't directed at Kaminsky because of his race.

2. People trying to compare this to the Oklahoma SAE thing are the same people who thought the SAE Oklahoma thing was blown out of proportion, which I find incredibly comical. White kids sing about the n-word, lynching, and how they'll never accept a black guy into their cool little group; and one black kid says the n-word about a white guy and, all of a sudden, THEY'RE THE SAME!

3. There's a reason why we don't get as upset about black people using the n-word as we do about white people. It's a good reason. It's not a closely-guarded secret. Anybody want to know what it is?

Ok, I'll spoil the suspense. You see, historically, white people would call black people the n-word to make them feel inferior. Sometimes (See SAE) they still do. So white people don't get to use the word. Black people shouldn't use it either because we need to put all that behind us, but it is decidedly NOT THE SAME FUCKING THING.

And every time I see a white person get upset about black people using the word, I just think that's a white person who wishes they could still use the word without ridicule or consequence. And that's just the saddest form of persecution complex ever.

And here I thought just the use of "nigga" by anyone at anytime is racist.... Duh.
I fail to see why it should make any difference who says it. I bet if Kamenski had used it in the same vein as Hamilton there would be screaming all over the media and protest marches all over.

There's no suspense to spoil. No one should "get to use" a word whose sole original was designed to degrade and dehumanize, period. You don't see Jews calling anyone "Kike", nor Hispanics calling anyone "Spic". I have zero desire to use it, yet I still think that no one should lest they face blowback for doing so. You may think that because you're clack that you have "social copyright" to use the word, but you don't. If the word is indeed so offensive to you, then you should be equally offended at anyone who uses it, regardless of their ethnicity.

That's an interesting choice of words. I'm assuming the last past was somehow intended to point fingers at others and somehow help advance past bigotry and preconceptions?
