Hawaii Rainbow Warriors (official thread)

Well, in fairness to you, after re-reading Hyan's post, I wasn't so sure any longer, which is why I deleted my post. But, that's what I understood him to mean originally.

Either interpretation works. We will just have to wait for Hayn to respond to find out for sure. I am mostly curious what his reference to "Once were Warriors" is really about. It is one of my favorite movies but tough to get through!

So, how about that Hawaii Warriors football team?

Speaking of Haoles, Colt Brennan is still questionable for Saturday's game after getting KO'd last Saturday:

Story

Brennan was cleared to practice because he did not experience headaches or nausea after being slammed by Fresno linebacker Marcus Riley.

Brennan was not hospitalized, nor was a CAT scan performed. UH officials have maintained the concussion was "mild."

"After talking more about it, (medical officials are) not even sure (Brennan) was knocked out," Jones said. "The doctors went out there right away, and his eyes were open, so they're not even sure. It was just a hard hit."

Brennan was out, regardless if his eyes weren't closed...he was totally motionless and non-responsive for several minutes, and even once he got to his feet (with help) and had his helmet removed, you could see him squinting and trying to focus his eyes. When he walked off the field--with help--he walked like he just finished a 12-pack...

Nope! You obviously get it!

HAYN

Ok, what about my remarks do you specifically feel were bigoted? I'm willing to listen and try to understand how I offended you.

ug. never mind. I just actually watched the part of the movie you posted and its not that you think I was being bigoted but that I understood the movie in reference to my comments and your reply earlier in the thread. Damnit I hate textual conversations sometimes!

Wow, The fighting June bugs barely made it out alive now its back to the big island for a home stand.

I give them credit.

They could have caved in- late drive, on the road, their top gun on the bench.

A few other things I have to say:

1. I can't believe Nevada tried the timeout trick that Urban Meyer tried against Auburn.

2. I'm sorry I didn't mention this game in the Friday game thread. I was busy with some schoolwork and a little stunned by the news about what happened to Dennis Dixon.

3. Is it just me or is Nevada an underachiever? Everytime they're in a big game, they seem to lose a lot.

Free money right here folks. With Boise and Fresno in the Islands and 4 road games I might be taking on a second mortgage on the warriors.

Crown them

June Jones got some heat from the bloggers yesterday after his comparison of Brennan and Tebow during the BCS Selection show interviews.

Summary -- First about the Sugar Bowl ...

Jones said Washington was by far the most physical and athletic team they had faced to date, and Georgia would represent a similar scale of challenge. Hawaii was glad to be going and he hoped to have the entire state there with him (where would they sit :))?
"To compete with a school like Georgia is amazing," Jones said. "It's the big time."
Then came the discussion about Brennan's outside chances for a Heisman bid.

Jones chose to contrast front-runner (and thrower) Tebow's statistics and style with those of Brennan thusly:

He labeled Heisman frontrunner Tim Tebow a “system quarterback”—and said Tebow’s success was due in large part to Florida's spread offense.

....

The entire panel of ESPN analysts had just finished saying Tebow had all but wrapped up the trophy. None of them seemed too concerned with the UF system—and I doubt any team that Florida faced this season would share Jones' sentiments.

Davis, for his part, seemed shocked by the comment—and probed further in an attempt to give Jones some wiggle room. But the coach pressed on, saying Tebow wouldn't succeed in Hawaii’s system.

When asked why, Jones responded that the quarterback leading the nation in passing efficiency isn’t a good enough passer.
Next season begins with a trip to Gainesville to match up the Warriors against Florida on their home turf.
Guess they will see if it is still Tebow left, Tebow right and Tebow up the middle by then - and if so, whether they can stop it.
But first up - the Sugar Bowl.

You guys have to admit. Hawaii got jacked. They did everything they were asked to do...the only team in the country that can say that...and now, they're outside looking in on the BCS Championship.

MAN, what a rip off!

:slappy: That's rich.

 Yes, since Tebow also had a horrendous 3 game stretch like this: 3 td 5 int, 1 td 0 int, 4 td 4 int.

Are you being serious? 4-9 Washington may have been their toughest opponent all year. Struggling regularly during this dreadful schedule doesn't earn them any credibility either.
