Hawaii Rainbow Warriors (official thread)

66-10 without Colt this last weekend. Any Hawaii folk know how his ankle is holding up? Hawaii moves to 4-0 with seven victories left for the cover. @ Idaho this week and I have to think the dome helps out the Warriors offense. Over is at 77 and I'm taking it.

Brennan was none too happy that Jones decided just before kick off that he'd sit Colt...Jones was saying up to game time that Brennan would start (probably just to get more butts in the seats). The Idaho game being on the road and with another week for his injury to heal, you can bet Brennan will start this weekend.

Do you think if it's a blowout this week, June would leave him in a little longer to make up for the stats he didn't get last week?

GEM post of the day! LOL!

From the Hawai'i scout board...

Michigan is down, Wisconsin and Penn St. too slow, Illinois a little better than average.

Ohio St. would be the biggest challenge but the QB is below average and relies too much on the power running game. They would lose in a shootout to Hawaii.

I'm not ready to say we're a top 5 team but according to the polls we are since the teams above us lost but this statement cracks me up! The original thread can be found here:

This is the first year I can recall having watched Hawaii more than once, and I can say confidently that they could beat Michigan. But against Ohio State or Wisconsin, they would be completely outclassed in the trenches. Colt Brennan, for all of his talent, would be running for his life and if he tried to force it, our linebackers and secondary would pick him off time and time again.

Conversely, if we didn't get heavy pressure, he could pick us apart with the short/medium stuff. The majority of big plays against us this year (like last year) have come from short/medium pass plays.

I wouldn't be too sure about TSUN being a walk-over - depending on the time of year the game is played.

One of the advantages that Hawaii gets is having those jet-lagged WAC teams show up on their doorstep and go dead in the late going. If the Warriors did join a traditional conference (this a hypothetical, so bear with it) then they would be forced to play probably 5 games or more in league play that took them off the island. That would make them the leg-weary players in a 4th quarter. Moreover, those games would be in conditions with which Hawaii has little familiarity. 80K+ rabid fans in the stands, cold weather making that pigskin hard as a rock. Tough fucking hitting from linebackers.

I'd say the legend of Colt might take something of a beating under those conditions. I'm sure Purdue this year would love to take them on in Ross-Ade. I'm sure Purdue could give them the shoot-out that those warrior fans believe is the only way to play a football game. And, I'm sure that the colder environment would greatly help the home team have an advantage.

Bend, but don't break defense. The secondary has been sure with its tackling so far. And the dink and dunk offense always struggles in the red zone against a good defense. If nothing else, Ohio State has a pretty darn good defense - too good, if you ask me, to lose to Hawaii.

Everyone wants to talk about their offense. I'm more interested in hearing how they would stop us, and what they're going to do with only 15 minutes of time of possession...

You mean our offense that piled up 30 points against the very worst defense in I-A college football? We haven't faced a solid defense yet this year...
