Hawk and Mangold Apartment Robbed!!

This is obviously very self serving to Buckeye Nation, but I wonder if they considered not reporting the money due to the fact that in 5mo. that amt. will be pocket change to both of them and they could have avoided substantial scrutiny on themselves and the program...maybe thats why it took 5 days to report? Just a theory, they didn't want to reopen Clarett gate

It sucks when you get robbed like that. I was robbed a couple times in college.
My apartment was robbed and I owned all of the electronic stuff so they stole my lap top, stereo, a book of 200 cd's, my N64(including bond) and the bastards went through my closet and stole clothes.
The 3,000 in cash seems a little extravagant, but the other stuff seems reasonable. My estimate loss out of my incident was around $4,000 from my report.
other times my wrangler was broke into a couple times for car stereos, or books.
these ones i felt were more my fault for leaving things in plain sight. Thank god they just unzipped a window and never tore my roof

I don't care how much money I have, or I'm going to have. I still report something, when someone else sees fit to steal from me. There won't be the big problem with this, because of the circumstances. They did the right thing by reporting this.

It's obvious to me that the reason for the delay is the Thanksgiving holiday. People are out of town with family. The report states that they aren't sure if it happened on the 22nd or 23rd. That means nobody was around to know for sure when the robbery took place. If one guy gets back and notices "Shit, we've been robbed." You call the other two guys and as soon as they get back you take an inventory of what's missing.

Nothing untoward here as far as I can tell. Unfortunate that it happened. I feel bad for the guys.

According to a Columbus Division of Police report, the burglary occurred sometime between Nov. 22 at 6 p.m. and Nov. 23 at 8 p.m.
Hawk, Mangold, and a third roommate, Jonathan Thomas, told police that their apartment in the 100 block of West Norwich Avenue was broken into and about $3,000 in cash, $1,425 in movies, two laptop computers, a $500 Gucci watch, two Microsoft X-Box games valued at a total of $500, a Sony Playstation game valued at $250 were taken.
"I don't have a lot, and now that little bit that I have is now gone," Mangold said.
Mangold, the Buckeyes' center, told NBC 4's Duarte Geraldino that he received a phone call from Hawk, telling him that their apartment was burglarized.
Police were not told about the crime until Nov. 28, according to their report.

Hawk and Mangold, both senior captains, helped lead the Buckeyes to the Big Ten Conference co-championship this past season. The Buckeyes received a Bowl Championship Series bid and will play Notre Dame in the Fiesta Bowl on Jan. 2.
Mangold said that he plans to take his valuables home, to Centerville, Ohio, but said he would have a few choice words for the thieves.
"Why do you have to do something like that -- to mess with a poor college kid's stuff?" Mangold said.
Hawk, a linebacker, who is up for numerous national awards, was out of town on Tuesday and was not available for comment.

Any media outlet (ESPN) that tries to take this and make something out of nothing (ESPN) is just f**kin' stupid (ESPN). I'd challenge you to go into any college kid's dorm room or apartment- you'll find all of this and more. It's incredible what kids have these days, well off or not. Holy shit, I sound like my Dad...

Anyway, my point is that this is nothing. Except for AJ & Nick losing their stuff- that sucks.
if you had hawk, mangold in a room would you feel pretty safe about your stuff not being stolen?
Not really!
Most might have some nice stuff in their rooms because they have tuition and room and bd expenses paid for.
All students/most students addresses can be found on University website. Something that I think the University needs to correct.
And three, you know on Saturdays that they will most likely not be home!!! At least during the Fall!

It was common practice for theives to hit homes listed in funeral section of papers for the same reasons. They announced the funeral times which is when they would not be home. And they usually targeted the house because of possiblly having things to steal(IE elderly loaded with precription drugs, cancer patients etc).

At this point the University should consider limiting the address listing and email listing for that matter of students.

Just my opinion!

You don't have to have your address on the find people part of the OSU website. Mine isn't on there, not that anyone would be interested anyway.

If you're in the dorms, it will automatically show up, along with phone number.
