Does anyone remember if there were similar comments, maybe from 11W sources, about hearing the same thing a few days before NSD last year? Maybe about either Kyle Dodson or Jamal Marcus? I tried to find something but couldn't.

if you want accuracy then i would pay to read either bill greene's or Nevada's scout.com articles...no one else comes close (no offense to anyone here)

Edit: quoted the wrong person

There were similar reports about the staff's confidence in landing Dorian Johnson from earlier this year. I get the impression that this staff projects confidence in everything they do, so reports like that seem meaningless.

It may not just be the coaches exuding confidence, but also kids leading them to believe that they should be confident. HS recruits are very saavy and sometimes dont want to disapppoint coaches and may make some coaches feel as if they are going to their school.

Here is a little something to keep us osu fans extra anticipating dontre's signature and arrival:

The fact that he says he wants to play slot receiver more than running back makes me want him more. We have some beasts in the backfield but a versatile player out in the slot makes the offense a possible juggernaut this season and beyond. Wednesday is going to be very very interesting.

Considering that all 8 of these unreliable "experts"
http://footballrecruiting.rivals.com/content.asp?CID=1466495

say that Dontre is NOT going to tOSU, if Urban does land him, they will have to redo the B1G division naming and call it "The Urban Legends Division".

I am definitely not holding my breath, but yes, I agree, tOSU seems to me like a compelling choice, since a playmaker is desperately needed for the type of offense the coaches want.

I do find it interesting that the guys covering the west coast are the two who don't think he'll end up at Oregon.

I want to begin by saying, I'm not a Negative Nelly, or a ledge jumper, but I've posted before, a Texas recruit with a UT offer smells like trouble.

Is there precident of going up against UT when the contested recruit gets his Texas offer 2 weeks before national signing day? Texas in my eye is not the same UT of the last 10 years; see A'shawn Robinson as an example. Wilson is not a recruit that Texas has hisorically gone after. Oregons whole rb stable has been filled with scat-back types that UT passed on. Mack Brown has historically been able to pick most of who he has wanted. This has not been true this year. UT has no history of success in scrambling head to head just short of NSD. No idea if we get D. Wilson, but I am less intimidated by Mack and UT in this instance than at any time we have competed for a recruit in the past.

With Texas' current state of football, I just don't see them being a huge factor. I know it's the Longhorns and they always get their share of recruits, but I think this one is between Oregon and Ohio State.

Smart kid in regard to seeing his future realistically. Most kids think they can stick at RB. Takes some real maturity to see his own limitations and look at slot WR as his realistic best shot.

A guy like Tavon Austin, another small guy, looks like he is going to be a high 2nd round pick this year as a slot guy. Wilson could definitely be that type of player. Seems like OSU or Texas would likely better develop him in that role.

If he had his heart set on RB, Oregon would be a more attractive choice.

Some reports from some of the Texas guys that he will make it official for OSU tomorrow. Very nice pickup if true.

The nicest thing about him is that he already looks really polished catching the ball. Unlike some of the other RB to slot WR converts we've had in the past (Lamarr Thomas), he has already been doing these kind of things in high school. Much higher level of competition as well.

All adds up to make him much less of a project.
