HC Ryan Day (2019 B1G Media COY)

Not sure he would be calling the plays under Kelly if here his OC. I believe Kelly called all of the plays while he was at Oregon. He likely would have more input in the offence at OSU than he would at UCLA under Kelly.
Agreed...but he wouldn’t be “Co-OC” and would likely be paid more. Would also get credit for UCLA’s offense, see Mark Helfrich.

Right, but Helfrich is also currently available and Kelly would not be poaching Meyer's staff, whom he considers a friend. He could tap Helfrich for this coming year and revisit the situation at a later date if Helfrich and/or Kevin Wilson get HC opportunities after 2018.

Heard on the Buckeye talk podcast(Cleveland.com guys) that Day is actually the coach that does the offensive game plan, more so than Wilson and Meyer has final say. I'm sure he'll get a pay raise at seasons end, especially if we win the B1G, get in the CFP or get to a NY6 and win. I see Day staying longer than Wilson

It’s criminal that 17 year old kids have threads many pages longer than coach Day’s. Kids who haven’t done shit yet compared to a proven comodity like Coach Day who has WAY more impact on the program than any one player ever will.

I think in the midst of the staff changes from this last off season, everyone’s focus on a NC run and then the current recruiting cycle, people have really slept on what an incredible hire this is.

I couldn’t be happier with this hire and I have a hunch he will stick around for a while. At least I hope so.

While I hope you're right about his longevity, per Urb today, he had a HC opportunity in the SEC this year that he passed on... so it's not like he's a well kept secret.

Nobody good will be a well kept secret. The fact he didn’t pursue it and Urb is clearly fond of him, giving him props and keeping him in tight is just a great sign. Not sure we could ask for more than potentially Wilson>Day. You set yourself up for that kind of succession plan and you win a lot of games year in year out. Just incredible how Urb reloads with players and assistants.
