HC Ryan Day (2019 B1G Media COY)

I think our O Line play overall will be generally higher than the Urban era.

I think Day demands it.

All that is very interesting. For as much as many of us loved the Urban era, many of us had legitimate concerns about certain things. Imagine being in a position to have seen the insides of the program... have some ‘what I would do differently’ thoughts and make them come to fruition.

God love Ryan Day.

Q: How important is this stretch for you and your team to not buy into the hype, to stay focused, and not be distracted by any of this?

A: Of course it's important to stay focused right now. If they're reading the hype; if they're reading all that stuff, then they're more foolish than I thought they would be. I don't think our guys are going to do that. We're just going to work everyday to get better- I don't know... it's the same people that picked us to be fourth or fifth or whatever in the Big Ten East. You know?

Can you imagine stepping into your first HC job at a blue blood program like tOSU and having your first year go like this on the field........and recruiting.

Just think about that.
I THOUGHT ABOUT THAT RIGHT AFTER THE MARYLAND GAME LAST YEAR AND ALSO THE MICHIGAN GAME. I STARTED TO COMPARE RYAN DAY WITH URBAN MEYER. AND THAT IS WHERE I AM RIGHT NOW. I DON'T KNOW WHY I FEEL LIKE THAT BUT FOR NOW WE STILL HAVE 4 GAMES LEFT AND IF WE CAN WIN THOSE REMAINING GAMES I WILL FEEL A WHOLE LOT BETTER. RYAN DAY SEEMS LIKE HE HAS THE PULSE OF THIS TEAM RIGHT WHERE HE WANTS IT. THAT IS WHAT IT FEELS LIKE TO ME. BUT FOR THE TIME BEING WE SHALL JUST HAVE TO WAIT AND SEE I GUESS.

I think that the team was better offensively last year under Ryan Day than Urban Meyer. I'm not saying I that I think he is a better coach--only time will tell--and Meyer was in the middle of a media and health storm--I'm saying that I felt the team was better offensively.

Anyone who thought this was a bad hire has been silenced.

I don't understand what you mean. I thought it was explained in my post. For right now Ryan Day is showing that he is better than Urban with the staff he has. Did Ryan learn anything from Urban while both of them coaching as they last year. Maybe the difference is that he is doing it a lot better.
I just think your caps lock button got stuck from the jizz of watching all the Chase Young highlights .

You know what I haven't really much of?

"They threw some things we weren't really ready for and haven't seen all year"

Only time I recall even hearing something to that affect was when Nebraska was gashing us a bit...before the defense promptly shut it down the next couple of drives.

So nice to have a well prepared team every week.

There were so many examples of that over the past couple seasons. “We didn’t anticipate them using a 3-4.” I can’t remember which game that was but I remember watching Urban say that and thinking what the fuck?

The worst was the Clemson loss:

“That was not the gameplan.”

Meyer wasn’t perfect at tOSU. Just closer to perfect than any coach, ever.

Really happy with Day, and certainly there was the occasional head scratcher with Meyer but the guy fucking kicked ass 90% of the time and left this program in great shape.
