I think the disparity in talent could be so great as to show something in the air early. The Beavers are gonna open up and challenge Haskins to go deep. If he rises to that opportunity and the big one comes, then I think more scores are gonna come on the ground. Either way, Ohio State dominates, no?

I think teams will start with the same defensive approach they threw at barrett, big soft over the top coverage to make you show that you can be patient and throw underneath.

Anyone with a set of eyes can put in the film and see Haskins will make you pay deep if you dare him to do it. Good news is I think haskins will absolutely carve them up underneath at first then deep when they start adjusting.

My biggest concern for the offense rolling into '18 is what does OSU do on 3rd and 1? That is where Meyer's offense is lethal with a Tebow/Barrett. yes, you have two great backs but a QB who isn't a big run threat shifts the numbers edge back to the defense when they don't respect him/account for him.

My concern with Haskins isn't so much his athletic ability to run, it's his feel/judgement/read skills. It won't take defenses long to figure out if he's a pre determined guy vs a legit take what they give you guy.

I think the schedule sets up well for what (fwiw) I think we should be doing: getting Haskins progressively more comfortable with running the offense and making plays without putting him in a spot too early where things go south in a hurry. I'm sure we can throw or run on my other OSU, but just strafing them doesn't really help us moving forward. We want him confident not just in his arm, but in how he makes everything go and makes the other players better by the time we roll into Tejas and definitely thereafter.

I am curious if not having Meyer around for a month will have an impact here; no one in their right mind would have Haskins running read option on crucial downs IMO. Without Meyer there forcing Day/Wilson to treat Haskins like a FB in those situations, have they moved away from it?

Running the QB is a Urban Meyer trait. Kevin seldomly ran the QB (especially at OU) and Day likes to throw the ball. So if anything it may be nice for UFM to see we can do this without running our QB into the ground.

Side note... can you imagine UFM flipping on the TV in a week to watch his team? That has to be so weird watching his team play.

Maybe he will join the gameday thread?

We should be able to pick up third and one anytime we want without relying on RPO plays or anything cute. The fact that we haven't always been able to do so in the past doesn't negate that. This line, assuming we get the center sorted out, should be massive and talented. As much as I hate Bucky, that's one thing they do right... except, of course, when we shut them down.

Yea this. Love Haskins, but... we got Dobbins and Weber. Let them set the pace behind the slobs. Part of it is... I still don't trust the all hands crew.
Hoping in 2018 I can finally stop screaming "feed the RB" at the tv.
