After 4th DWI, man argues legal limit discriminates against alcoholics

I've actually sent this around to assorted agencies in the past, without response.

They need to forget about confiscating people's driver's license for DWI. That isn't the problem. Drunk drivers shouldn't lose their right to legally drive. They should lose their right to drink.

I know people would think it a pain in the ass, but we should always have to present an ID to purchase alcohol, in stores and other venues serving drinks. Not just to prove you're over the legal age, but that you haven't abused the privilege. Our license should carry a notation showing you're a licensed drinker. Drink & drive? Your new license will be flagged that you can't purchase alcohol until whatever expiration date is determined. Bartender, 7-11 clerk, or your best buddy want to ignore it and supply you? God help them the next time you get caught sloshed behind the wheel. Lose their liquor license, be prosecuted for enabling, be liable for civil damages.

Think that's harsh and invasive? Tell it to the parents of the three teenage boys who died here on Christmas morning a few years ago because some jackass was too drunk on his ass to tell he was entering the freeway in the wrong direction. The boys had to be identified by their dental records. That knock on the door must have made for a memorable holiday.

PS The guy who killed them? He was just fine. Had all his assorted limbs intact when he stood in court to be sentenced.

Doing any of this would only create a very accessible and very low-risk black market for alcohol. Back in undergrad I used to buy shitty booze for freshmen and sophomores for profit all the time. Literally no way to trace the alcohol in their blood back to me if any of them got into an accident.

Drunk driving accidents are a consequence of living in a society with legalized alcohol and - like car accidents in general - a dependence and affinity for personal transportation. The only way to reduce them tomorrow would be to give first time offenders life sentences.

Fight over man's flatulence forces flight to make emergency landing

A pilot made an emergency landing after a fight broke out over a passenger who allegedly refused to stop passing gas.

Two Dutchmen sitting next to the flatulent passenger reportedly asked the man to stop, but he refused and continued to break wind aboard the Transavia Airlines flight from Dubai to Amsterdam Schiphol.

The budget airline crew allegedly did not help the passengers after their complaints, Metro reports, leading to a fight between the men. Despite a warning from the pilot, the altercation continued and forced the airplane to be diverted to Vienna Airport, where it made an emergency landing.

Police boarded the plane once it landed and removed two women and two men that the pilot reported as “passengers on the rampage,” Metro reports.

Apple 'repeatedly calls emergency services' after multiple employees injured walking into glass panes at new HQ

"Place thousands of people distracted by iPhones in a building that is mostly transparent, and perhaps the results are inevitable.

Apple’s new 175-acre headquarters, centered on a glass ring which hosts 12,000 staff, has become an architectural fascination since the first designs were unveiled seven years ago.

But after the Apple Park campus opened earlier this year, the technology giant has discovered one downside to its obsession with stylish aesthetics.

Apple employees reportedly keep walking into the glass panels which form the walls of the spaceship-like building. According to Marketwatch, at least two suffered cuts to their heads and required treatment by emergency services.

Apple needs to get in touch with the company that produces these:

And get 'em to whip up a batch of these:
