Helmet Stickers / Buckeye Leaves (all merged)

Had a drink--or two--with HAYN and 808 tonight and had a, uh, "lively" discussion on this. We'll just have to wait until I take a few up-close photos of a game helmet when I get to C-Bus for The Game...

Dude you don't need a photo, you just need to see it with your own eyes! Oh, I forgot...you've been staring at my future wife too much ^^^ and your vision is all wacked b/c of it!

All of the stickers on mini helmets and replicas I have are black...but from the official site:

Buckeye Leaves
A round white decal, about the size of a quarter, with a green depiction of a buckeye leaf is applied to Ohio State football helmets for big plays and consistency on the field. This tradition started in 1968 when Woody Hayes and longtime trainer Ernie Biggs changed the look of the Ohio State uniforms. Many of the sports at Ohio State incorporate Buckeye Leaves into their equipment and uniforms.

Yeah it was once "said" the world was flat too!

Well, let's look at a game helmet, shall we?

At the back base of his helmet, compare the black stripe to the leaves next to it...not even close, clearly green. The stripes value is R=1C G=1C B=1E which show it to be black (or in this case a very dark grey because of the screen capture) while the leaves' value vary widely buy always have a "G" (value) significantly above the "R" (red) and "B" (blue) values, indicating shades of green.
black. no green. the bit of white in the middle of the leaves lightens the leaf up and gives the appearance of green.
