Helping Haiti

Hey guys,

I'm just throwing out a few organizations that would love a donation to help out Haiti:

Red Cross

Partners in Health. Paul Farmer has been offering medical care to the poor in Haiti since 1983. The PIH team has sent an urgent request for help.

Oxfam's Latin America emergency response team is headquartered in Haiti, so they are well positioned to respond quickly. And they have a strong track record of supporting local rebuilding rather than funneling money to outside contractors.

Grassroots International has set up an emergency fund to assist their Haitian partners--local organizations that have been working for years for a sustainable future for Haiti.

Action Aid, which is working around the world to end poverty, works in Haiti and is looking for help for both short term response and long-term rebuilding.

Doctors Without Borders, which already had medical teams in Haiti, has begun treating earthquake victims. According to a staff member, most medical facilities in Port-au-Prince are not functioning.

Any of these groups will use your donations effectively. Please spread the word. Thanks.

Last time I checked, hundreds of thousand of people haven't died in a natural disaster in Newark. And many of the ones who are still alive in Haiti need serious medical help that they don't have because hospitals have collapsed. Read some news, Chewie.

Thanks for starting this thread....donated some money, but it is not gonna bring back 6% of the population of Haiti! That is simply staggering to me, the devastation of the whole thing. That is twice as many victims as the massive tsunami that struck and killed 250,000 people in 8-10 different countries not so long ago.....more than 1 out of every 20 people killed in Haiti. Shocking! :(

Yeah it's very quick and easy. At 6:25 I texted them, at 6:29 they responded and asked if I was sure and to text them back if I wanted to confirm payment, I texted them YES for confirmation at 6:30, and they sent back confirmation at 6:34.

Take advantage of this quick and easy method folks. I know I'm probably gonna do it a few more times over the next few days.
