Here we go again.
Despite Cardale Jones reiterating to the press just two short days ago that he would be going pro -- even going as far as to say that he'd rather sit on the bench at Ohio State another season than transfer to another school -- and his head coach Urban Meyer telling the media a day after that that Jones would be entering the NFL Draft, rumors have once again surfaced that Jones could be considering a graduate transfer.
On paper, this makes some sense. Jones' stock took a bit of a hit after a rocky go as a starting quarterback just eight months after leading the Buckeyes to an undisputed national championship. Behind an at times disjointed offensive game plan and a fickle fanbase who never seemed interested in giving him a fair chance to get comfortable in the offense, Jones eventually lost his starting job.
Though he and his successor J.T. Barrett's season ending stat totals suggested that at least some of Jones' struggles could be attributed to playcalling and scheme, a year somewhere else could very conceivably help Jones rehabilitate the reputation he'd garnered during the Buckeyes' title run.
But we want to separate the wheat from the chaff and really help get the facts out there.
