Not too good if you read the story. I dont know how relevant this is but since tOSU recruits this area heavily, I though I should post :

Pahokee football game ends in brawl

Saturday, July 12, 2008

MIRAMAR ? A summer exhibition "game" between two of South Florida's top high school football teams, Pahokee and Miami's Booker T. Washington, turned ugly Saturday at the Nike South Florida 7-on-7 passing tournament.
Washington won 22-21 on a last-second touchdown and two-point conversion, but a post-game brawl will be the lasting image for both teams.

Pictures if you want as well. again, not good.

Booker T. Washington is the school of 2008 OSU offer Brendan Harris. His dad was the coach there until being hired by Miami last year.

Exactly right, and Pahokee is right smack in the middle of the "Muck" and was one of the schools featured in that Sportscenter special about the Rabbits. Antione Smith, and Anquan Bolden just to name a few alums. Theyd have to be pretty good to win the whole 7 on 7 title last year.

I was kind of surprised the article named only two of the players specifically. I don't feel at all bad for the kid that went to get a metal pole, but the other kid got called out for "reinstigating" while no names were mentioned for actually starting the fight. The kid from Pahokee in the pictures swinging at the Washington kid on the ground's head while the Pahokee coach tries to protect him was pretty ridiculous, yet no mention.

What goes through your head, when during a scuffle, you run to get a metal pole?? Do you want to kill some one?? No, ok perhaps just make him brain damaged??

Or maybe you just want to plant it in the ground, dance around, and squirt milk in Daytonbuck's mouth??

There's been a lot of recent speculation about what will happen not only to the schools "in the muck" (many of which have really proud high school football traditions), but also with the towns themselves. The state of Florida just bought a pile of land in the Everglades that had been used as sugar cane fields by US Sugar Co., for the purpose of environmentally revitalizing the area. Unfortunately, it will probably have an effect on the area similar to what we've seen in the Rust Belt when first steel then manufacturing jobs dried up. There's not a whole lot else besides big sugar in that area of the state, and if I'm not mistaken, Pahokee is one of those schools and communities that will be affected, so I'm sure there is a lot of uncertainty in the minds of those kids and their families, not that it necessarily had anything to do with that brawl.

Pahokee. Played football against them back in the day (I played for Vero Beach High on the coast). They were thugs even back then, and not scholars so much.:tongue2: You did not fuck with those guys. I remember a freshman game when after the game ( they killed us) they all drove away in their cars... we were like 15 and nobody drove yet.

Thats no small feat as Vero is a HUGE school, and has a large fan base, and good f-ball tardition as well. I went to Wellington we lost to Vero in the 96-97 playoffs I think. I dont think the impending doom on their community had anything to do with it. Theres a reason why the SWAT team, and about 50 deputies are assigned to the annual "Muck Bowl" between Pahokee and Glades Central!!

Reminds me of my time as a 7th grader at Piqua (OH) playing against Trotwood and their QB who was, no lie, 6-6.

My high school team (no not me, as many of you know I was on the sidelines fluffing my pom-poms), went out to Pahokee and got absolutely slaughtered, but it was only half time. What do the Pahokee Blue Devils do.....put in their JV, and scored about 4 more TD's. Final was like 77-0. They dont mess around out there!!

Sounds like Booker T. won the fight though.:)

I can just smell The Bengals looking at the police reports to see what their futures drafts can bring

I'm fucking tired of this shit. I've said it before, but I guess it bears repeating...

Sometimes, the players don't turn to a life of crime until after they are drafted by the Bengals. :p
