High School Reunions. Any Good Stories?

My 30th was kind of tame. Drinks and talk about your kids stuff. Fun to go back and see your old high school though, when you live out of state.

Hell, now you can go on-line and see what they are doing. Seems mine has become a special needs school during that time.

Actually, looks like they had a lot of fun doing it anyway. Go Fightin' Indians!! (Never got the p.c. word on mascots I guess.)

as to the topic, i've seen and caught up with all my old HS friends via facebook over the last year. A reunion at this point would be meaningless........LOL.

we didn't even have a 10 or 15 year reunion for our class anyway. There were only 50 of us in the graduating class, so most of us are still friends anyway.

Went to my 15 year a few months ago. It does amaze me how some people still live in that clique world even after 15 years. Overall good to see some people I hadn't seen in a long time. Best story was one of the girls who was this shy tom boy girl come walking in painted on black jeans and a tube top. She has 5 kids now, but is super skinney with big fake boobs. Turns out her Husband is some sort of doctor that makes a tone of money. He was telling people that he had he insured for about half a million dollars.

I went to my 20th reunion a few years ago. I walked in and realized there were two separate rooms. One was for the commoners, it was sparsely decorated, had some bar food set out (chicken tenders, pizza snacks and some other nasty shit and a deejay playing some tired old 80's songs. Then there was an invite only VIP room complete with passed hors d'oeuvres, a champaigne fountain, a cold seafood food bar (oysters, lox and bagels, various salads) and carved prime rib.
I laughed myself silly for a few minutes, found some old friends and went bar hopping the rest of the night.

That sucks. You went to school with a bucket of assholes it seems. :shake:

I would have crashed that party so fast and thoroughly with my buddies that when the inevitable attempt to throw us occurred, it would either fail or result in the VIP party being the worst reunion memory in those people's lives. TOTALLY inappropriate.

I went to a small school and it consisted of the children of the people that ran the town and owned all the businesses and the peasants. I of course was a peasant. Even when it came to sports if you weren't a kid of one of the "elite" you pretty much rode the pine. Our starting shortstop couldn't even throw the ball to first from the hole. Our starting QB my juinor and senior year was a frail 5'7" 140 pounds and couldn't throw the ball 20 yards in the air without a running start. It was pathetic.

Wow!! If you were the kid of the folks who cleaned the toilets - hell, if they cleaned the peasants' toilets - your ass started at Vero if you were a baller.
I shouldn't say you couldn't start, it depended on the position. All the glamour positions like point guard, quarterback and what not always went to the rich kids. Small school, small county, small tax base means donors get huge favors.

...Vero Beach High School...Go Fightin' Indians!!
Small world.

For most of 1979 & 80 I worked in construction down there. Lived in Fort Pierce while putting up new houses, mostly in Vero Beach. That was the year they were finishing I-95 through there.
I tried to get into following the local sports, but it just wasn't the same - maybe if I'd lived down there a bit longer. Had a major car accident (fell asleep at the wheel) and was in the hospital for 8 days, then moved back in with my folks in Ohio for about 6 weeks to recuperate. Just never went back. Loved the scenery though.

- always wondered what ever happened to ol' what's-her-name?...

Just got back from my 20yr. Quick rundown of the weekend events.

- Thursday night pre-pre-party at Ocean Deck and Robbie O'Connells on Beachside. got tore the fuck up with about 6 really close friends

-Friday Night Social gathering at the Arena Grill on Beach Street. about 50 members of the class gathered for drinks and light snacking. Most people saved themselves for Saturday Night's party. Not me. I again got tore the fuck up.

- saturday picnic at the beach. No drinking, catered BBQ from Sonny's.

- Saturday Night semi-formal dinner at the Plaza Hotel and Spa. Final major gathering with a little over 120. Prime Rib dinner, Booze, and dancing. Knocked down some serious booze. Had a bartender on site, plus we had a full stocked after party room on the 7th floor. Bartender made a little dough, but we kept running upstairs to mix drinks and come back down. Some of us stayed in the room for a little extracurricular activities, DNA sample offerings, and what not, then returned to dance some more. After party spread to three places through the night. Robbie O'Connells, the after party room at the Plaza and Club 509.

- Sunday Morning Good Bye Brunch at City Island Park. Only about 20 of us were able to get out of bed for it.

The whole weekend was great and exhausting. My wife always accused me of exaggerating how hard my class partied. She doubts no more.

My class didn't have a 10th or 15th. Primarily because I was the class president, but I have zero desire to organize one. Back in high school when a couple of teachers talked me into running for the position, they never told me of the reunion expectation--I never would have run. I've made it clear to my class that they shouldn't expect me to put one together; but no one has picked up the ball until this year, where the the class behind us has decided to have a 15th/16th year reunion for both classes.

I won't be attending this year, as I have work commitments that weekend, and more importantly, I don't see the need for one. Especially in light of Facebook. I'm "friends" with a good 1/2 of my class on Facebook and see their updates and family pictures all the time. Not sure what the point of hanging out with them for a weekend would achieve.

Great thing is, my wife feels the same way and has skipped her 10th and 15th as well.
