I don't like to see people banned from boards. That being said though, I think Louis stepped way over the border of decency when he sent the PM's to other posters in regards to their Mother. That is inexcusable. There is absolutely no reason at all for that kind of crap here on any other board. I've read some of his posts over on BN's and as others here have already stated he is doing exactly the same thing there as he was here. I may be wrong but it would appear that he has not learned his lesson. I say ban his ass and then maybe at some point in time in the future if he has cleaned his act up consider reinstating him. JMO.

No Bans

I don't visit any of the boards with frequency anymore due to the "ganging up" and taking sides that occurs all too often

So, because I don't come here often (I still think you are the best Clarity) take my words with a grain of salt.

Once you start down the banning road, it can easily get out of control and become insane. There is an "ignore" feature on here, it might be better to use that, then to ban.

can you place him on ignore and not have to deal with it?

As do I, and that precisely why I did what I did. I warned him first, and then had to ban him. It's only a week ban to get his attention. It's not that he was banned because he had differing opinions or even was controversial, it was because he stepped way over the line of acceptable decorum...in fact, he didn't step over the line, he took a running leap over it.

By the way, there have been a few other posters than have already been banned from here for somewhat less hostile action. The only reason that LouisHMartinez is even being discussed is because he was so visible and was the worst violator. So, there should be no worries about this becoming another Grassy where people are banned by the dozens on a daily basis...you have to really, really work hard at it to get drilled here.

buckeyebeliever: The simple fact that Clarity was willing to pose the question to the "general population" here at the planet is proof enough that this site could never slide into the cesspool that sites like bucknuts currently reside. JoseBastardo brings nothing to this site. All he does is start controversy with his ignorant posts and flaming insults. Even if that was all, we could probably tolerate him. But when he PM's me personal insults regarding my mother, I draw the line. There have to be some rules, some sort of line that cannot be crossed. Julio has proven time and time again that he does not respect the posters here, the administration, or the site itself. This place is a type of "members only club", and to be a member, you at least have to follow the established rules of society. If this piece of dogshit would have said what he did to my face, I honestly don't know that he would still be breathing. The fact that he thinks he can hurl insults from his keyboard doesn't mean that we have to tolerate it. The admin's here apparently feel at least similiar to me, and I am glad. Any numb-nuts can come on here and start spewing garbage, but they won't be tolerated. This site exists for Buckeye fans, not trolling ass-munchers like julio.

I understand that this is personal for you...I wouldn't appreciate a punk saying things about my Mom...I am merely suggesting that the banning craze, if happens, can get out of control and people start banning because they disagree...much like the childish misuse of the ratings points in use here.
If we would simply block/ignore him, we wouldn't have to ask Clarity or others to ban someone. Isn't that what the ignore is for?

I do understand what you're saying. And I agree with you--to a point. Any "banning craze" is going to be bad. But punks have to understand that they will be "punished" if they cross a certain line. Just like in society, laws are in place for a reason. If there were no laws, where would we be? This site was created for many reasons, one of which was to let people come an have more leeway than other sites. The banning of one individual who deserves it does not create a "banning craze".

As for the ignore feature, yeah, I guess that is what it is for. But at the same time, if some dickhair said those things about your mother to your face, would you ignore it and turn around and walk away? I know I wouldn't.

I should also say here that things are not at all going well with my mother right now. A lot of this may be "misguided anger", but I don't really care. Louis still crossed a line. My mother is now "day to day", and is not expected to see the end of the month. At this point, that would be a blessing, but it makes personal attacks like what is referenced here all the more potent and inflaming. The bastard can rot for all I care.

As I have said before, my mother is not well either (and getting worse), so I am with FKA on this one.


That said, it appears he is more than happy over on BN, so I think this is probably a moot point anyway.
