How bad could the BCS get?

Ideally, taking the polls out isn't a solution either. The only way these computers could create an appropriate matchup, without interference by human polls, would be to calculate everything--from opponents' opponents' opponents' opponents to what the players had for breakfast. It could be done, but nobody out there is willing to go through the effort. Besides, controversey gives us a reason to read the filth on ESPN.

humans are biased, computers arent.

The BCS Computers are not magical eight balls. They use progams which "weigh" the results using a variety of factors. Which factors are coded in by --- human beings.
The computers are just a tool, a means to an end.
You might as well say that a baseball bat is not a murderer -- when the point is that the bat was the murder weapon.

I think his point was that these human polls didn't watch all 117 teams all season. A correctly coded BCS--or an improved, if you would--could decipher through all of the trash and pick a true #1 and #2. But, I don't think we are ready for that. People wouldn't want to see a #1 Oklahoma and a #2 Utah.

True but the formula's used are formulas, not human opinion which is based on hype and bias and preseason rankings and how much coverage they get on espn or what some lacky graduate assistant feels like voting for since the coach is too busy and doesn't watch the games anyway.

Two years ago when the BCS put TOSU and scUM south in the title they used like 11 computer polls to average it out, they should go back to that to get a good balance. Their is no way I would let the AP have any say in who wins a title.
