How do you handle a Bucks Loss?

Buck Nasty

You'll have nothing and like it
I was wondering how everyone dealt with a loss by the Bucks on any given Saturday.

Does it ruin your whole day?
Do you become a total asshole?
Do you get over it and move on?

The reason I ask is this. This past Saturday we were invited over to one of our newer neighbors house to watch the game. They found out several of us were big Bucks fans and decided it would be a great way to get to know the neighbors. (good idea in theory) Bob I will call him Bob for the sake of the story, has a beautiful finished lower level shrine to the Bucks complete with about a 50" Flat Screen TV so the environment was perfect. As usually happens in these types of situations, for the 1st quarter everyone (about 5 couples) is down in the football room watching the game. By the time the second quarter rolls around most if not all of the women are upstairs talking and attending to children (pretty common I am sure) Soon after halftime things start going downhill for the Bucks. Bob is getting more and more tense and not really enjoying the company much I sense. By midway through the 3rd quarter it it obvious the Bucks are not going to win. Bob is going to hurt someone or himself. The game is starting to become a comedy of errors by the start of the 4th quarter and Bob disappears. There are 5 of us still in this guys basement watching the game, and it takes a while before we realize he has been gone for a quite some time. The game ends and still no Bob, we walk upstairs to see whats going on and catch up with the women. None of us are happy, but we are dealing with it. I ask Bobs wife, I will call her Mother Theresa what happened to Bob. She said Bob does not deal well with Buckeye losses and he is up in their room. She says he will probably stay there until tomorrow. I kind of laugh and make a joke about it and she gets this terrified look on her face that says " you think its funny, but I'm probably going to get my ass kicked tonight" Any way I stopped short of inviting her to spend the night at our house, and everyone decided it would be a good time to leave. Talk about making an impression on your new neighbors. Anyway it just got me wondering how everyone else deals with a Bucks loss.

PSA: Bob, (you know who you are) if by chance you are a member of the Planet I'm sorry, but I had to tell the story. Seek help

bob sounds like a psycho, bob needs help. possibly from this guy?

Wow, that's f-ed up. Bob should try this instead- :2004:

I usually get quite cranky after the Bucks lose. My wife says that I'm not much fun to be around for a while when this happens. I usually find something to do outside (mow, wash car, etc..) untill I'm over it enough to be normal again.

It bothers me for days, though....

I first murder my neighbors pets and then set their house on fire.

Then I'm fine.

Actually in all seriousness, I used to really get down after a Buckeye loss but since we won a National Title, it's been easier for me to handle losses.

You may think I'm not a real fan for feeling such but that Title brought more satisfaction than you'll ever know.

It hurts, even in subpar years (like this one). After a few more "beverages" to drown my sorrow, there is always something that needs to be done, Mowing, yardwork, a project (drywalling basement currently). I am a jerk, I am sure for the first couple of hours, but after taht I like to think I get over it and move on. I do tend to spend a lot more time on the General Discussion board than the football board after a loss though.

Somehow Wisconsin hurt worse than Iowa and NW'n hurt worse than Wisconsin. Hmm, maybe I am a bandwagon fan. Actually, I always hate to lose, but it's easier when we suck ass.
I agree, partly because I was at those two and it just seems to be worse when you experience it personally. There is nothing else to divide your attention, and you have more emotional involvement when you are in the stadium cheering etc. Also Iowa was a lost cause, so you had basically the whole second half to prepare yourself for it. I have to say by the fourth quarter on Saturday we were just laughing at the ineptitude (that could have been what made Bob leave the room) When that Defensive Lineman bullrushed Barton and pushed his ass all the way to the QB and then threw him down was priceless I hope they play that about 50 times for Bollman in film study.

During the Northwestern game, I threw a full bottle of Kirin against my neighbors garage wall (fortunately they weren't home and the bottle didn't shatter). During the Wisconsin loss, I obliterated my wrist watch on the garage floor. And during the Iowa loss, I smashed a disposable plastic food container with my fist. Other than that, I handle losses pretty well.
