Please be advised that while I am not, in fact, BKB, I am the designated lawyer for BP Vegas trips.

Pipe down, stepping stone.

Kyle. The man was unemployed as a coach when you hired him. It was in all the papers.

I hope he has his issues resolved. His psych nurse wife seems to think so. So I hope he can get it done, but if he shows up at the post-game presser mike after a Purdue loss wearing boxer shorts and Wolverine nipple ring piercings, alternatively drooling and singing the Bowling Green fight song in Esperanto pig Latin, you can think back to my concerns after his failure to delegate and handle stuff in G-ville in 2010. I 100% trust him when he says he thinks he can do it. I do not think he is anything but 100% genuine.

I'm not as sure I trust that he can get it done over the long haul. If he can't get it done, he will leave the next guy with a wealth of talent, however.

Then why was Gator Nation going to be butt-hurt and whiny...er...I mean..."angry and resentful"? I mean...the man was unemployed as a coach when we hired him. It was in all the papers.

"I made this clear to Jeremy Foley (Florida athletic director), if I am able to go coach, I want to coach at one place, the University of Florida. It would be a travesty, it would be ridiculous to all of a sudden come back and get the feeling back, get the health back, feel good again and then all of a sudden go throw some other colors on my shirt and go coach? I don't want to do that." - Urban Meyer
Some folks thought this indicated a lack of sincerity or truthfulness. I can see that, I guess. I mean, how some fans can get emotional about it. Really, to me, the circumstances have substantively changed since his health problems at Florida, at least if you give credibility to Shelley...which I do. Jesus, what do some UF fans want - for Urban to remain forever unemployed as a shrine to our two MNCs??? But you know how some fans are. They treat their coaches as more than the hired help they are, and many view them as Olympian figures and paragons of virtue who live to please their need for successful college football programs.

I have some doubts about how his type A self can ease off. But if he can do it, that is great. We owe him a bunch. I hope we kick his ass in some future game, but that is expected.

So now you're acting like you weren't including yourself when you said "Gator Nation"?

Ohio State fans would never behave like that.

Kyle - the post was a few months post Urban leaving for allegedly (which I do not doubt) being unable to perform the job of a head coach. Had he immediately turned around and signed on with anyone he would be a [censored]ing liar and a person of suspicious character. He did not do that.

He signed on with ESPN. He spent more time at home. He went on vacations. He went to all of his kids sporting events. He spent the summer relaxing - and the fall 2011 season doing games for ESPN. According to Urb, he spend a large amount of time talking to folks about how to get balance in his life. The disastrous Florida 2010 season had finished when I wrote that post. The disastrous Florida 2011 season with a different head coach is almost in the books. Given the time and distance between where we were after our2010 season and where Florida is today, I don't see Urban's itch to get back to coaching as anywhere near the problem it would have been had Tress been fired and Urban hired for the OSU 2011 season.

If you can't see the distinction between taking a season off - then we can agree to disagree on whether the term "Gator Nation" includes me today - 19 days from 2012.
