I hate recruiting season

Mike80

Identity missing....
  • I can't really post this in the recruiting forum, but I HATE this part of the recruiting season and will continue to hate it up until LOI day at the very least, maybe further if a recruit needs more time.

Everyone needs to frikin chill. Sure we would like to have all of the kids that the coaches line up to sign on the line and become Buckeyes, but it's not as if it's OUR future on the line. Whether it's Trey Johnson, or Zeke or any of the rest of them, including Barksdale, let's keep it sane, eh?

    In short: Trust the Coaches

    Venting over. Carry on.

I think it's fun to follow, but it can reach a point where you need to take a step back and realize we're talking about a game involving 18 year old kids. The best day is the night of signing day when you can close the book on recruiting and REALLY start looking forward to the spring game.

I think recruiting season is best summed up by a reply to the last OZone recruiting update where the poster sad that fans put some much time, thought etc into the topic...and then went on to post 5-6 more paragraphs on the subject.

For me it's simple, I keep up in general with the players being looked at but I don't bother with the interviews, experts predictions on where they'll end up or in-depth examinations of their motivations.

Just remember, that in the average 25-man Buckeye class, two kids will be All Americans, ten will be solid players, five will be bench warmers, and eight will be total busts. The problem is, on Signing Day, you don't know which kids are going to fall into which categories. You only know that, according to the law of averages, the numbers will look pretty close to the break down set forth above.

So like Mike says, just chill and see how the prospects develop over time.

I think the way fans freak out over recruiting is hilarious, especially on some of the lesser Buckeye boards.

Hanging on every word uttered by a 17 year old kid for months? I'll pass. Let me know who signs their LOI.

I agree 100%. I can't name one single commitment for this year. On recruiting day, I'll see where our class ranks, and the next time I care about these kids will be when they play.
