DT Tommy Togiai (Barrel Strong, Cleveland Browns)

Steve Wiltfong just dropped a crystal ball on Togiai this morning. I don't see any articles or tweets from Steve or Tommy today, so maybe something will be posted soon?

The staff is staying persistent here, I think many wanted to see what the level of follow up and interest would be after his visit. Since that has stayed consistent, I think many are optimistic here even though there is a long way to go.

Would a verbal end the chances at Antwuan Jackson?

I'm not entirely sure...two different players and in different classes eligibility-wise. I think the staff would keep recruiting Jackson regardless...he might be a "TAKE" regardless and even if he is not, they might have 6 total DL spots allocated for this class. It is not a sure thing that we get/keep all of Parsons, Oweh, Cox, Smith, Vincent and Togiai. If any of those fall through, could be that Jackson gets that spot. That being said, I think Smith would be the biggest wildcard in the equation since he is a tweener...miss him and then you definitely take all of Vincent, Togiai and Jackson if you can.

End of the day, I know the staff view Togiai as a "TAKE" and if he commits, they will figure the rest out later.

Yeah my thoughts exactly. You don't say know to Smith or Togiai even though they likely both project inside IMO. And what a class with Vincent eh? Long, Long ways to go of course. It's probably unlikely we get absolutely everyone on our DLine short list anyway. If that happens....I'm sure the staff would figure it out.

He's a take if the staff still likes his abilities after a year of JUCO. There's no replacement for depth across the DL as you see this year. Jackson is versatile defensive lineman which JL loves. Waves of defensive linemen don't wear down and make the back 2 lines of the defense better and we are losing Hubbard, Sprinkle, jones, Lewis, Holmes and Hill. Gotta replace those guys to match what Clemson and Bama keep puttin on the field. Keep bringing the skill sets Johnson needs and if they are one of the top 10 Defensive linemen on the team then Johnson will get them on the field. The best thing I like about Johnsons scheme is that he moves guys around brings in waves of bodies so opposing offensive linemen are facing fresh bodies and different players so they don't get accustomed to who they are blocking.

One thing is for sure, this DL class is going to be lights out...with Vincent and Cox on board, it is already insane. And you know at the very worst we will land plenty of guys from that group. Frankly, I just really want Tommy in this class regardless...reminds me a ton of Haskell Garrett to be honest, but with a little more size and power. Land Tommy and figure out the rest.

Agreed 100%. While we have recruited lights out on the DL, there is about to be a mass exodus of talent heading out. DL is THE key spot to recruit in high volume and talent this year imo. Again, regardless of how it shakes out, I think you take Tommy in a heartbeat if he wants to join...heck, you push as hard as possible to lock up the commitment this weekend imo. You get Vincent and Tommy in the same class, along with Cox and at least 1-2 of Parsons, Smith and Oweh? Look out.
