Idaho Vandals (offical thread)

Surprised there already isn't a thread...anyways, I go to the University of Idaho for grad school now and I feel they deserve their own thread. D1 football has not been kind to the Vandals and not surprisingly so (you can't even pay kids to come live in Moscow for 4-5 years). However, the Vandal fan base remains faithful and still meanders to the Kibbie Dome after inducing themselves into a whiskey-driven coma at the tailgates. We always have a faint glimmer of hope that THIS is THE year that we will get back to a bowl game (who can forget the Humanitarian Bowl victory in '09 over Bowling Green?). Well, see the link below...apparently the communication majors aka the football team couldn't even put together a C average and cannot go to a bowl game. To be fair, our record during the season would have precluded us anyways. The team was already a joke, but now everyone can laugh.

MOSCOW
Idaho junior quarterback Matt Linehan didn’t play as expected, and the Vandals failed to score in the second half of their opener against Montana State on Thursday night in the Kibbie Dome.

Didn’t matter.

Idaho is happy to be going to Washington on Sept. 10 with a 1-0 record.

Junior running back Aaron Duckworth ran for 108 yards and two touchdowns to help Idaho stave off a second-half charge from Montana State, winning 20-17 despite producing only a field goal after a 17-point first quarter.

The announced attendance for the season opener was 11,987.
