Idea for "great post awards"...

I have an idea...how about a button similar to the rep and report bad post one that can report a post worthy of the award to the forum leaders? This would be similar to the Report bad post button and would still go through the mod filtering process.

That sounds like a good idea at face value, but those generate e-mails that the mods need to respond to. Personally, I don't want to get an e-mail every time poster-A thinks poster-B made a pretty good point.

I read virtually every post in the football and open forums. There are a few other Mods that can make the same statement. I think that a truly deserving post will get rewarded. If it occasionally doesn't happen quickly enough at times, I'm willing to live with it.

It took less than 60 seconds for Oh8ch's latest observations to get a GPA, since I hit it after about 2 paragraphs. Other times it could take a while for deserving posts to get recognized, but c'mon, what's the difference?

[sarcasm]
Personally, I think this deserves a GPA. I'm going to send PM's to all of the Mods so I can get an award ASAP. If I don't get one, I'll sit here and sulk. [/sarcasm] :tongue2:

I understand Bill and I'm not trying to increase the load of work for mods. If you read earlier, I was the first person to shoot down the idea because I think the mods do a good enough job of rewarding posts. I don't think that ordinary users should be able to reward any post they like because we know how rep-happy most members are. I feel that if standard users have the ability to influence the rewarding of posts, there needs to be some sort of approval from a mod before it actually goes through. I think the current system in place works just fine.

So who is going to recommend this for a great post award??? anybody???

Golfer, your thoughts are profound. How is it that you don't have 3,204 great post awards?

This kid knows his stuff...there is only one way to get to the top and that's...

See, exactly what I'm talking about...I could give you a "GPA" vote for your incredibly awesome post and it wouldn't have to wait for a mod...But then again, this post (my post) should also get a vote or two because it is obviously a "great post" and I "rule all" when it comes to cyber logic.

Seriously though, this was just an idea and I hadn't considered the e-mail thing or whatever. Just throwing it out there...
