well, it looks like both carter and pagac jr are stating that espn spun their comments. pagac is going on wall to wall sports to explain such in addition to the dispatch article about it.

Why doesn't everyone shut the hell up and think about the situation. Use a critical thinking thought process about this whole situation.

The NCAA has already investigated the majority of the allegations and has found us innocent.

The star witness of this whole B.S. story is MOC who is a liar and backstabber and has publically stated that he would get back at OSU. He has a hell of alot of motives for this crap

Every freaking player ESPN breaks a new story about comes out later and says they have been misquoted!!!!! How many fucking times are they gonna cry wolf and people are still gonna answer...looks like very damn time...they are too stupid to smell the bullshit.

Most of the witness are less than credible and most or all of them have an axe to grind.

Does OSU need to look in the mirror? hell yes they do. Do they need to recruit players with better academic standing and character? yes. Do they need to change some things so these thing will never happen or never happen again? yes

Can the allegations made by Clarett be true? yes they can. Do I think there have been players in the past that have taken money? sure. Have there been players that have cheated or had people do their work for them? sure.

OSU has been singled out by ESPN. If we are found guilty they need to investigate every college in DIV 1A. Every school has skeletons in their closet and if you don't believe that you are gullable. This is a witch hunt and we are the on trial. A coach cannot baby sit 105 players 24/7/365. Why don't these young men take responsibility for their actions instead of blaming everyone else.

It does say alot about a person when they admit they cheat and take money when they know it's against the rules. IMO the University ought to revoke their degrees since they admitted that they cheated and make them bastards start all over.

This is a smear campaign by ESPN prompted by MOC PLAIN AND SIMPLE. I know alot of people that are not OSU fans that are tired of hearing about that little bastard. MOC may be one of the most hated people in america. The idiot may destroy himself in his attempt to destroy OSU.

A man is innocent until proven guilty. Jim Tressel is innocent in my eyes until someone besides ESPN comes up with some credible evidence. Until that time my bullshit flag is in the air. ESPN runs these stories so Buckeye fans and all football fans will read it. It's a sensationalized bullshit story that is getting old. Next time the boy cries wolf why don't we tell him we don't give a shit!!

What pray tell does any of the foregoing have to do with whether JT is culpable, let alone guilty?
Nothing. It has nothing to do with whether he's culpable and neither does this thread. My post has to do with my responding to Ironton's personal attack on me, after my attack on his theory. I hardly see how it is your concern. This thread isn't about if JT and/or AG is/are culpable or guilty, it's about Ironton's contention that they are not because they have character and aren't acting like "guilty" men. I've been arguing that this character issue proves nothing and that guilty men act the same way as JT and AG have been. Now, I have not been saying that neither AG or JT has character, I've been saying that if they are bad guys, then they are merely doing what bad guys do in these situations - i.e. play strong and confident in front of the press. It is my opinion, which you can read in the post I made to Ironton which you quoted, that both JT and AG both have very good character. It's the rationale of the original post which I'm objecting to, not the conclusion.

Speak for yourself.

I was raised better than to duck an issue.
I have no idea what that's supposed to mean in light of the language you quoted. Speak for myself? Who the hell else do you think I'm speaking for? Did I say I represent the lollipop guild or something? Apparently you don't want to see the point I was trying to make to you which was, 1. I am not comparing and contrasting Bliss to Tressell and 2. to make a comment on human nature as I believe it to exist generally - whether or not any one of us was "raised better" individually.

And, I might add, if you'd just come out and say "yep you got me" you're a better man than me. If I cheated, I'd try and hide it. That's one reason why I don't cheat, because I don't like having things to hide.

True enough this thread does spring from Ironton's thesis that the posture of JT and Andy Geiger is not typical of the reaction of coaches or AD's facing an NCAA investigation. Frankly - of the two I think it is AD Geiger's stance which is the most forceful. If I wasn't clear in my 2nd most response to this let me restate thus: I agree with you that this stance cannot be taken in and of itself that there is nothing at tOSU with which the NCAA may take issue. Like you I believe AG and JT are men of fudamentally sound character. That is why I took of on the whole Bliss thing being irrelevant. Where I do agree with Ironton is that such a stance by AG is rare -- if not unique -- especially given a precept that AG is a man of fudamentally sound character. Frankly, I don't believe JT is taking anything other than the more typical posture of waiting and seeing what the NCAA investigation brings forth.
Sadly, what you say about how a similar defiant (defensive) posture being typical of even the most guilty is all too true. Though, I believe (like you)that does not mean this is the case with JT or AG.

Let me come straight out and tell you that I was wrong to step into the middle of this bar-fight twixt you and Ironton. Moreover, it was unfair of me use that speak for yourself doublet - and for that I certainly apologize.

For what it is worth though it was these words that caught my attention and brought forth my response:

I was merely pointing out that even when you know you are plain busted, you don't just come out and say, "Well hell, you got me"
I guess Buckeyeskickbuttocks that I was surprised by these words in what you wrote. Mostly because I cannot conceive of being thus cornered and blithely lying in a pretty futile atempt to save my ass. And given your more recent statements I feel that anyone who doesn't cheat, or doesn't like to cheat because they don't like the feeling of hiding an unpleasant truth is in fact pre-disposed to come clean under such clean cut circumstances. Maybe you are short-changing yourself?
