If you had to change the outcome of one game in Ohio State history, which would it be?

In my lifetime I'd have to go with the Springs Slip game with 1998 coming in a close 2nd. And while I'm at it, I would want to see a 4 team playoff between 1996, 1998, 2002 and 2014 to find out the best Buckeye team in my lifetime as well because it's one of those 4 and I wouldn't bet against any of them winning it.

Do they all get the same coaching? Because the talent on that 1998 team was beyond insane...but the mental midgit at the helm would make 02 or 14 (or even 06) overwhelming favorites

98? They won a title 5 years later, and winning in 98 likely prevents JT from being hired.
07? They won a title 5 years before (and 7 later), and with a 2nd title, they probably do not get Urban for this decade. As great as JT was, Urban is on a different level, particularly for this era.

Slay UF in BB in 07 and you end a 47 year drought (now 59), which is not likely to end any time soon. And yes, I realize 98 was awhile too, but we have the gift of hindsight. Without it, 98 has to be the answer.

Yeah, in my lifetime this is the one.

Most emotional pain I have ever felt from a loss.

Inexplicable and eviscerating
Sanchez may have lost to Stanford and whateverthefuck spreadwise, but I still posit this as the most inexplicable loss in college football history. App State? Yeah, but that was at the beginning of the season and they weren’t that good. The timing, the teams involved, the talent discrepancy...fuck it sideways in the pussy with Bill Romanowskis helmet.

and the way it happened...midway through 3rd quarter and it's all according to plan. Total domination by OSU then, I don't know exactly what the fuck.

I think it was the genesis of my general disdain for Tressel/Marty ball. There is no such thing as a big enough lead. You keep scoring on those cocksuckers till the refs tell you it's time to stop skull fucking the corpse. THAT is the surest way to victory, not sending a rested defense out to protect a one score lead for 3 quarters.

Let's be real if your answer isn't the title game vs Florida, guaranteeing that team as one of the best of all time, then I just don't know what to tell you other then to seek help.

I really can't get on board with that. An extra BCS title wasn't going to save JT from the clutches of scandal.

In my opinion, the answer is without a doubt The Game in '69. The fact that the best team in Ohio State history never won a national championship is utterly blasphemous. I also think the Buckeyes winning that game would have put rookie coach Schembechler and his turds back at least a couple of years instead of giving that God-forsaken team the type of momentum that it received going forward leading to the 10 Year War. And who knows what kind of players we could have recruited under Woody to help continue the type of dominance we were unleashing on college football at the time with a down TSUN

In my lifetime, I was at The Game in '96 when Shawn Springs slipped. I was at the game vs Saban's Spartans in '98. Those were both tragedies of the highest order (the MSU game pretty much pulled every Buckeye fan's heart out through their ass, because that Buckeye team was little doubt the best team in the country in '98). However, my vote would be 2006 Championship Game vs Florida. If we had won that game, it would have changed college football history in the south. The myth of SEC superiority, the "it means more" bullshit, and the "southern/SEC speed" bullshit that proliferated for the next decade would have died with a sickening thud the same way we ended Miami's "southern/ACC speed" bullshit in '02

2010 Wisconsin....would have finished 12-0 and played Cam Newtons Auburn for a NC. I know some may not agree, but I think we matched up very well with that Auburn team. Not to mention Oregon almost beat them and I feel we would have performed better than the Ducks for sure.

Ok, you’re totally right. But eliminating the butterfly effect... everything that has happened would have happened with the exception of that single outcome...

That said, with the butterfly effect in play? I don’t change a damn thing... and I write the losses off to character building.

One less Urban probably does.
