Over at Irish Eyes an interesting post was made by bucklvr regarding Charlie's and Ty's win/loss records against top 25 competition. They are a little sensitive over there these days, but in the ensuing responses, RiversideIrish asked a good question. Would Ohio State fans accept a Ty Willingham as our coach? Given our current situation, the answer would be obvious, but it did get me to wondering.

If we were down to 2 coaching options, Ty or Charlie, and we had to sign one of them for 5 years, who would you take? Remember, it's not just the win/loss record we're concerned about here. OSU fans have always demanded someone who best represents the University and its traditions (one of the reasons Coop wasn't so popular). Because of this, I think I would prefer Ty. A coach who comes across as arrogant and/or pompous would not be liked here.

So what does the rest of the board think?

Like Mili said - this can't be a fucking serious question.

We really should have the famous "Other - name in thread" option.

In which case I choose Tressel.

Definitely not Weis, and Ty is OK on the persona front, but I'd feel the Buckeyes were on the way down if he came into Columbus as Football Head Coach.

Only an Irish fan would rather have Weis than Ty.

It's like dumping Elizabeth Hasselbeck for Rosie O'Donnell.

It's like trading in a 1995 BMW 325i on a Pontiac Aztek.

It's like selling a house in Cincinnati so that you can move to Detroit.

It's like benching Donovan McNabb so that you can start Rex Grossman.

It's like quitting drinking so that you can take up smoking crack.

Yeah, like that.
