IL LB Clifton Garrett (LSU Signee; Transfer to ???)

Plainfield South junior outside linebacker Clifton Garrett made an unofficial visit to Ole Miss over the weekend.

The Rebels are looking to add another prospect from Illinois after landing Crete-Monee's Anthony Standifer (2012) and Laquon Treadwell (2013).

"Ole Miss is a beautiful place," Garrett said. "Everyone here is like family, and once you get in town its all about Ole Miss. The coaches at Ole Miss, like head coach (Hugh) Freeze and the rest of the coaches, truly care about the players. The fans at Ole Miss are behind the program 100 percent and the players all want the same thing; they all want that national championship."

Garrett, who has 25 offers, also plans to visit LSU this spring.

Garrett to take more visits: Plainfield South junior linebacker Clifton Garrett has offers from across the country. So which schools have stood out?

"LSU, Florida, Ole Miss, Tennessee and Virginia Tech, along with Oregon have been sticking out lately, and I want to see what schools outside of the Big Ten have to offer."

Garrett is planning more visits for April, including stops at LSU, Tennessee and Florida.

247 - Clifton Garrett Is "Mr. Nice Guy"

4/10

Ohio State is the current leader for Garrett, but he?s also excited about offers from Florida, LSU, Ole Miss and USC. Oregon and UCLA are two other programs Garrett has interest in. However, recruiting is hardly in the forefront of Garrett?s mind as he?s always working to get better with Bublitz and his high school team and then on his own time with Szczesny and the folks at Core 6 Athletes.

In the last year, Garrett has visited Ohio State several times, and he?s also been able to check out the campuses at Illinois, Indiana, Michigan State, Notre Dame, Ole Miss and Wisconsin. The next scheduled trip for Garrett comes the weekend of April 21, where he plans to swing through Alabama before hitting LSU for the Tigers spring game.

?I?m still liking Ohio State a little bit,? Garrett said. ?My focus is starting to shift to schools in the South. Ohio State is definitely a school that has stuck with me through the process. I like Ohio State a lot but I want to see more schools in the South and get out and see USC and UCLA and Oregon.?

Kind of tough to get a read on where he will end up based on that article. Some stuff that sounds good for us and some stuff that makes it seem like OSU is only the leader temporarily until he finds a southern school he likes better.

I knew something seemed odd about some of the newer LB offers and figure one of the ones I saw as strong odds (Raekwon, Booker, Clifton) had simmered down a bit for that (new offers) to have occurred. I just hope we can keep the line taught on Raekwon and reel him in, Booker I think with Paris and being an Ohio kid seems favorable for us and then one other for this class. Thats just me. I don't count Hubbard as a LB though anything is possible.

I definitely think we get booker and have a great chance with McMillan. It's a shame we either didn't keep pursuing Clifton or he just became enamored with the other schools. Hubbard is eventUally a DE, IMO and so could winovich.
