Illinois Fighting Illini (you'll see)

their rankings SUCK, well some of them anyway. plus they have updates like a week after rivals has made the update. and rivals is more accurate than scout. the only 1 who isn't a 4 star is anthony jones. chris duvalt list WVU and Illinois as his leaders, and i think he'll opt for illinois. crabtree is electric with the ball in his hands and can play a # of positions. kenny britt reminds me of calvin johnson with his height/speed/hands combo. ramone johnson was reported down to illinois and northern illinois in a chicago newspaper. i think he'll be in C-U. and are you implying that morrow will be a 2 star?
I am implying nothing. I am simply stating the ratings and visit dates as delivered on scout, period. The fact that you believe rivals' ratings to be more on point is simply a matter of opinion. You question a factual statement regarding Morrow's rating on scout - fine, don't believe facts. As you so trust rivals above all others, please feel free to use their rating for Morrow instead. You know how much that rating is, and like you said yourself, rivals ratings never suck. :(

there are different guys in each database. anyway, let's just close this thread. enough talk about illinois, although i think they'll be dangerous.

Point One - You can close the thread because as thread starter you are de facto a thread administrator. Hell, if you feel so inclined you can delete it. These facilities are found under the drop down menu called Thread Tools.

Point Two - I don't think it would be good move to either close or delete the thread. You started it, and the fact that I and others disagree with you about Illinois' ability to rise from the mat in 2 quick years is not IMHO sufficient reason for thread closure, certainly not deletion.

Point Three - When you start responding to the thread with language like "are you implying Morrow's a 2* recruit" you are not even using a data source you yourself cited, i.e. scout.com. Furthermore the tenor of such a response gets mighty close to calling out an individual poster.

Point Four - All the rating services have strengths and weaknesses, the biggest of which weaknesses is their willingness to pump a recruit who has yet to commit over one who has committed. The next biggest for either scout or rivals, is their inability compared to creditable coaching staffs to recognize best quality prospects. (Case in point AJ Hawk, who was rated only as 3* by both scout and rivals in the 2002 class, and we all know how that worked out). The last weakness of scout and rivals as rating services is that they do so often fail to agree on a prospects worth - frankly it should not be that hard, and in my opinion neither service is actually better than the other, both are equally at fault. Then again, if they agreed, they would not have anything "unique" to sell to their subscribers.

Living here in Illinois most of the Illinifans are taking a wait and see attitude. Zook talks a great game and is a good recruiter, but can he coach. Most would trade Zook for JT in a New York Minute. Even they feel Zook is a Carpetbagger won't be in Champaign long. And Illini fans know carpetbaggers,(Makovic,Krueger, Self,)

this is a 2-9 doormat getting attention from some of the top guys in the nation. i'd hate to see when they're winning and he has FB to sell. they're more than dangerous if you ask me. i mean, illinois fans have to be going crazy with these commitments. they might actually have to turn down some 4 star recruits. next year will be really interesting. if they were to come and steal 1 of our top prospects, i'd flip.
Please save the "sky is falling" posts for Notre Dame, or some other team that might actually win a bowl game in the next decade.

Hades will freeze over before Illinois starts turning away 4-star recruits.

(well hades must have frozen over) because illinois only has what, i think 2-3 schollies left. they can't take all those guys. the only way they take them all is if some de-commits.

Where is the sigh emoticon?

You do realize that there is a difference between the situation as it exists today and the situation LJB (and I and others) are describing don't you?

i didn't know morrow was going to be a 2 star. i dont have premium services. i was just going by his list of schools.

The 2 star rating isn't a "premium" only piece of information - just look it up!

what do you guys mean then?
Compare to - for instance - the current and projected class for USC to cite an extreme example.

And Illinois haven't got any of the 2* or 3* or 4* players you originally listed in the fold, so the whole point is completely moot.

I've about had it with your paranoia. Illinois has 26 commits, with no 5-stars, two 4-stars, and twelve 3-stars...they also have the lowest star average in the top 25.
