I'm bored. Is it fall yet?

Yertle

Pounding out aggression, turns into obsession
On a cold autumn day back in 2002,
The Bucks faced off with the Maize and Blue.
A victory would finish the Bucks’ perfect season,
And would send us to Tempe for a very good reason.
But a loss would destroy all Buckeyes dreams
Of becoming the Champs over all other teams.

The game started well, on the legs of Clarett
We liked him back then. Remember? You bet!
But then Michigan started driving it at will,
And the Buckeye faithful began to grow ill.
Luckily, the defense held near the goal line.
The Bucks trailed at the half – Seven to Nine.

Then for most of half two, the teams traded punts.
I wish the Bucks could move the ball just this once!
Then the famous wheel route to our “friend” – Big Mo,
Put us near the endzone. First and goal to go!
An OPTION play??? WOW! Touchdown Buckeyes!
“Now hold them, defense,” I prayed to the skies.

But SCUM doesn’t wash away quite that easy
They hung around for more. I was getting quite queasy.
Michigan was completing passes wherever they went
Thanks to my favorite – the Buckeyes’ prevent.
A desperation pass as the clock ticked to zero,
Was caught by Will Allen, my new Buckeye hero!

As fans poured to the field, I watched with great glee
From the world’s greatest place – my seat in Deck C.
Then Krenzel was lifted. What glorious sights.
And Carmen Ohio was sung up to the heights.
Now it’s time for a fiesta. To Tempe or bust.
And at that instant I realized, in Tressel I trust.

Alas, Dr. Seuss and I are not related.
But if we were, I would truly be elated.
I wish that one day, I too could say,
"Rhyming in kids' books is the source of my pay."

So I'll go back to writing about Buckeye greats
Who beat all the teams from the other states.
Doss, Krenzel, Jenkins, and Wilhelm
Will be the topics of poems here in my realm.

Holy Cow! What a great thread.
But now, all my thoughts, must rhyme in my head.
Like that song you hate that sticks in your mind,
I can't stop rhyming, you two are so unkind.
Oh how I hate what you two have done.
All this confounded rhyming is no longer fun.

J/K guys. Great thread. :slappy:
