Impending Assistant Coach Vacancies

I think a lot of that was having Jordan at C this year. Late getting the ball back and really slow getting it there caused a lot of jumpiness from the line.

It's been an issue for Prince since he got here.

Which would bring my next point of if there is a new OL coach I hope they can teach discipline because I’ve seen way to many drive killers. I see your point about Jordan but again, that’s something the line coach should be fixing.

Some time I'm going to watch AD for like the 20th time with the dedicated purpose of identifying all the Tobias & Buster lines that have a Hairball correlation and then develop a gif meme library... I imagine it would be the size of the Library of Congress.

For now... Hairball must be all...

Agree. And the entire reason Jordan was at center was because Stud didnt develop Brady Taylor into a player that could take a meaningful snap in a game by the time he was a 5th year senior. Inexcusable

There are a lot of people (a large majority, in fact) who couldn’t be developed into a player that can take meaningful snaps on the OL at Ohio State no matter how good or bad the coach is.

To completely ignore a player’s ceiling in this instance is silly. It’s not like Taylor was highly rated, and it’s not like Studrawa was even with him his entire career.

I am completely on board with moving on from Studrawa and upgrading the OL coach, for the record. I just don’t think that specific line of criticism is a very good one.

Ok. I’m confused on a few things.

To recap, Alex Grinch, Greg Schiano and Bill Davis are out and we brought in 3 so it’s back to balanced on D.

Is Taver and Stud in or out?

If Taver is out then does a CB coach come in or is Hafley coaching both safeties and CBs?

I was still holding out hope for Freeman but that doesn’t seem likely now. I was hoping Hafley could handle all the secondary until Mattison or LJsr retire so Washington could fill in there and he’d basically be learning from those 2 while helping with linebackers. I was hoping Hafley could handle the secondary himself and Freeman and Washington could both work on linebackers (Washington being a “recruiting coordinator” and transitioning to his natural DL spot eventually)

When one of Mattison or LJsr retires then Washington slides into that spot and a coach for the secondary is hired to help Hafley out.

And for the Stud question, if he’s out then who is most likely for that spot.

We were clearly persuing Corey Raymond for Tavar's job. Sounds like he is staying haven't seen any rumors yet who is next. Stud appears to be his choice otherwise I feel like we would have had rumors of who is replacing him coenciding with rumors he is leaving.

Yeah I heard the Raymond talk but never saw it happening.

So the question is.......Taver stays unless a potential rockstar can be brought on to replace him? It’s just not clear to me how Day views Taver. The CBs haven’t been spectacular and the recruiting hasn’t been great under Taver either I don’t believe.

Article from Birm at Letterman’s Row said Taver is out. Waiting to see what happens with Stud.
