Henderson checks out Michigan, Ohio State
July, 30, 2012
By Jared Shanker | ESPN.com

Joe Henderson (Shaker Heights, Ohio/Shaker Heights) could soon find himself in the middle of one of college football?s most storied rivalries.

The defensive end/outside linebacker participated at Ohio State?s Friday Night Lights camp to start his weekend off, and the 6-foot-3, 200-pound junior capped it with a visit to Michigan for its BBQ at the Big House on Sunday.

Michigan has offered Henderson while the Buckeyes have not.

?Ohio State, Michigan, they?re both excellent schools, a lot of athletic players,? said Henderson, who also has offers from Cincinnati and Illinois. ?It?s going to be a tough decision if it comes down to that.?

Glenville's Jones talks with Meyer at FNL
August, 1, 2012
By Jared Shanker | ESPN.com

Cleveland Glenville has produced dozens of Division I prospects over the last decade, and Marcelys Jones should be another.

The 2014 two-way lineman competed at Ohio State?s Friday Night Lights, and he is hoping it will bring him closer to his first offer.

?The camp was great, a lot of competition,? Jones said.?I?m working hard trying to get this O-State offer.?

Jones spent time with a few members of the coaching staff at the event.

?I talked to a lot of coaches when we started 1-on-1s,? he said. ?I sat down and talked to [Urban] Meyer and talked to the offensive line coach [Ed Warriner] and ate with him.?

Inexperienced TE Long garnering interest
August, 16, 2012
By Jared Shanker | ESPN.com

One of the more active players on the camp scene this summer was junior tight end Darryl Long (Westerville, Ohio/Westerville South). It did not result in any offers, but it went a long way in getting Long?s name out to coaches.

Illinois, Louisville, Kentucky, Michigan, Michigan State, Ohio and Ohio State all hosted Long for a camp this summer. He also was at the Nike Football Training Camp in Columbus and participated in the Sound Mind, Sound Body camp in June.

Joe Henderson yearns for Ohio State offer
August, 24, 2012
By Brad Bournival | ESPN.com

Joe Henderson (Shaker Heights, Ohio/Shaker Heights) has offers from Michigan, Cincinnati and Illinois and likes all three.

What he?s looking for now is one from Ohio State.

?All three are great colleges, but I?m still waiting until my senior year,? the 2014 defensive end said. ?Cincinnati is a great program. They?re great with the kids.

?Michigan is the same as Cincy. They have a great facility, great coaches. Coach [Greg] Mattison is one of my favorite coaches. Illinois has great facilities and great coaches. They know how to work well with the kids.?

Marcus Whitfield next in line at Massillon
August, 24, 2012
By Jared Shanker | ESPN.com

MASSILLON, Ohio -- Massillon (Ohio) Washington has no shortage of BCS-level prospects on its roster, and its best 2014 prospect could be Marcus Whitfield.

The dynamic receiver/safety is a playmaker on both sides of the ball, and he’s garnering interest from schools already.

Whitfield participated at a camp at Ohio State in June, and Buckeyes co-defensive coordinator and safeties coach Everett Withers has recruited him ever since.

“He pulled me aside -- I went as as a receiver -- and he pulled me aside and we just did some one-on-one stuff,” Whitfield said. “After we did the drills he told me he really liked me and wanted to start looking at me.”

A track star in the spring, Greg Claytor (Shaker Heights, Ohio/Shaker Heights) has speed to burn.

That speed drew the attention of Ohio State early. Now a junior, the 5-foot-11, 185-pound Claytor knows what he has to do to keep the Buckeyes? attention.

Nolan Jackson-Daniel big fan of U-M, OSU
August, 25, 2012
By Brad Bournival | ESPN.com

Nolan Jackson-Daniel (Shaker Heights, Ohio/Shaker Heights) has interest from Akron, Illinois, Iowa, Michigan, Northwestern and Ohio State.

The 2014 wide receiver is far from making a decision, but he did hint at liking a few of the Big Ten schools.

While Iowa is near the top of the list, so are Ohio State and Michigan.

?I?m just going to wait,? said Jackson-Daniel, who had a 61-yard touchdown reception Friday night against Solon. ?I?m not jumping in just yet. I like the level intensity of all their programs. I?ve seen them all on TV and have visited all the colleges except Iowa.?

Lattimore, the next big Glenville star?
August, 26, 2012
By Brad Bournival | ESPN.com

The next big name out of Cleveland Glenville (Ohio) could be real big.

Tarblooders offensive coordinator Tony Overton swears he?s special. The name is Marshon Lattimore and if the name is foggy now, it might not be by the end of the season.

The 6-foot, 185-pound junior passes the eye test, as Ohio State and Toledo already know. Both have offered the wide receiver, while Michigan, Illinois and Akron have shown interest.

Ohio State has clout, especially when it comes to drawing big name quarterbacks for unofficial visits.

Joey Duckworth (Louisville, Ohio/Louisville) will make his way to Columbus this weekend to watch Ohio State play the University of Central Florida in a noon kickoff.

?It?s Ohio State, I?m expecting a fun game and a great atmosphere,? Duckworth said. ?I?ve been there before when I was little, but never like this. I?m sure it will be fun.?

Cameron 'Dial-ed' into recruiting world
September, 9, 2012
By Brad Bournival | ESPN.com

Cameron Dial (Twinsburg, Ohio/Twinsburg) wants to be a household name by November. He?s already known in circles at Ohio State, Michigan, Wisconsin and UMass.

If the 6-foot-1, 225-pound defensive end has his say, he wants it to fall off the tip of tongues from coaches around the country by the time his junior season is over.

Dial went up against Lancaster offensive tackle Kyle Trout Friday during Twinsburg?s 44-21 victory and more than held his own.

After gaining 189 yards of offense in the first half, Lancaster managed just 24 yards in the second half and didn?t get out of the red until the last drive.
