In-State Players to Watch

Buckeyes Could Soon Offer In-State Receiver
When 247Sports releases its first Top100 for the class-of-2017, Springfield (Ohio) High sophomore receiver Danny Davis will be listed.

“He’s a primetime player,” Springfield coach Maurice Douglass said.

Douglass saw many primetime players during his 14 seasons at Trotwood-Madison before taking over the Wildcats program. This will be his first year at Springfield after going to the playoffs eight times including a state championship in 2011 at Trotwood-Madison.

He can’t wait to see what the 6-foot-3, 178-pound Davis can do this fall.

“With the ball in his hands he reminds me of a Sammy Watkins type guy,” Douglass said. “Very explosive in and out of his breaks. The thing that separates him from the normal kid is there is no ball that's out of his range.”

Davis also yearns to learn.

“I like that he’s so coachable,” Douglass said. “He’s one of those young men that if you told him to run from here to Atlanta, he’s going to run to Atlanta for you. He’ll do exactly what you say, and that makes him a pleasure to work with.

“If you need him at corner he’ll play corner, if you need him at safety, he’ll play safety. Whatever the need is.”

Won’t be long before Davis is a need guy for college recruiters.

“He will have an offer pretty soon,” Douglass said.

“Ohio State is going to make him an offer, they just need updated film. I’ll be shocked if they don’t come with a quick offer for him. Has a 3.4 GPA, ran a 4.51 I believe at Ohio State and never ran a 40 before.”

Todd Sibley RB Akron's Archbishop Hoban HS
might as well get to know him
he's gonna be one of our future skills players
Freshman All-American
Soph pre-season AA

What's intriguing about Sibley is.. seldom does anyone get a solid hit on him.. seldom does one man take him down
Hit him high, he slinks off.. hit him low is worthless.. His lower body strength is superb...

Michael Warren

11W Hurry-Up mentions his name today.
MICHAEL WARREN, JR. IS ABOUT TO BLOW UP THE RECRUITING SCENE
Getting early attention from next-level coaches isn't new to Toledo Central Catholic sophomore Michael Warren, Jr.

"I was coming out of 8th grade," Warren, Jr. told Eleven Warriors. "I'd see like every high school coach come to my games and practices to watch me play."

Warren, who lives in the Start High School district in Toledo, decided Central was the place for him, and not only because of football.

"Really," Warren said. "I went to Central for the academics at the school and because of the hard-nosed style of the football program."

Hard-nosed adequately describes the bruising sophomore tailback. Although he's listed at 5-foot-10, 187 pounds, Warren plays much bigger than that. In last week's state title win, Warren rushed for 194 yards and two touchdowns, bringing him to an impressive 2,246 yards and 28 touchdowns in his memorable sophomore year. With NCAA policies as they are, colleges are not yet able to directly reach out to Warren, but it's coming. The Buckeyes are going to be one of them and that's something the Central sophomore is looking forward to.

"Ohio State is a place I feel I could fit in," Warren said. "I love the city and I love the environment. I've got an uncle that lives in Columbus. I know I'm young, but I think I could bring a lot of success to Ohio State in the future."

With a state championship win under his belt as a sophomore, Warren and his Irish teammates will enter 2015 with a target on their backs. Because of that, there's no resting on any perceived laurels.

"Yeah, winning a championship was a dream ending to the season," he said. "But it's time to get better for next year."

Boston College, Miami (OH), Ohio State coaches all check in on 2017 Ohio OL Matt Bockhorst @MattBockhorst http://notredame.scout.com/player/8057818n-matt-bockhorst…

Dated article:
Bockhorst Generating BCS Interest

Cincinnati (Ohio) St. Xavier offensive tackle Matt Bockhorst is generating major interest as college coaches see the potential in one of the state's top sophomores.
"He has a chance to be really good," St. Xavier coach Steve Specht said. "He has a wealth of potential. From a talent standpoint he has all the potential in the world. He could be a great one, but I can't say that right now, he's just a baby. He is a young kid that has to grow and develop. He has great feet and moves well."

The 6-foot-4 1/2, 290-pound Bockhorst has already been to games at Tennessee, Vanderbilt and Cincinnati this fall. His father played for the Bearcats. He's scheduled to visit Notre Dame on Nov. 22.
