In-State Players To Watch

"It was really good being at Ohio State, and things went well, but I have a lot of room to improve," Thomas stated. "I loved being at Ohio State."

"I have nine offers right now, and all of them are really good offers to me. I couldn't choose between any of them," he added. "I did talk to all the Ohio State coaches, and they told me to keep getting better and keep coming for visits."

Thomas holds offers from the likes of Michigan, Michigan State, West Virginia and Rutgers. As an in-state recruit, an Ohio State offer would mean a lot to him.

"It would definitely push them up to the top two or three, obviously," he explained. "Being from Ohio, an offer would definitely push them up to the top three."

Fairfield TE Erick All
Ohio State has become familiar with Fairfield High School over the last year-plus thanks to its pursuit of 5-star offensive lineman Jackson Carman. However, 2019 tight end Erick All could give the Buckeyes a reason to keep frequenting the suburban Cincinnati campus.

The 6-foot-5, 205-pound All has offers from Kentucky and Cincinnati, and after two camp appearances with the Buckeyes this summer has emerged on Ohio State’s radar.

“They’ve come to my school and my practice,” All said of the Buckeyes. “I talked to them then and they gave me their number to keep in touch after I was at their camps.”

All was in Columbus for a 1-day camp in June and was invited back to campus for Friday Night Lights on July 21. He’s originally from Alabama, but the interest from the Buckeyes is something he relishes.

“They said they are going to watch me this season,” he added. “It’s really exciting for one of the best schools in college football to be interested in me.”

Now that his name is starting to find its way to the recruiting world, All is in no hurry to make a college choice.

“I’m not rushing to get any offers,” he said. “I’m only a junior, so I’m just going to keep playing my game and being a leader, helping my team become the best we can be.”

The visitor list for Saturday's game against Oklahoma continues to grow by the minute, and among the latest to inform Eleven Warriors of his intentions to attend is Northland running back John Branham Jr. His younger brother, Kalil, will tag along as well.

The 5-foot-10, 195-pound Branham attended Friday Night Lights in late July, but hadn't had much contact with the staff prior to that because of NCAA rules for underclassmen. Once the recruiting calendar permitted it on Sept. 1, though, offensive coordinator Kevin Wilson was among the first coaches to reach out.

“He keeps saying he thinks I can be the best running back in the state,” Branham said.

Branham is not yet ranked by any major recruiting sites, but holds offers from Cincinnati, Kent State, Ohio and Toledo. Programs like Indiana, Iowa, Kentucky, Louisville, Michigan, Michigan State, Notre Dame, Penn State and USC have also shown early interest, especially after he rushed for 284 yards and three touchdowns and returned a kickoff 72 yards for a score in last weekend's 31-28 win over Whitehall.

MOVING ON UP
Ohio State also welcomed Strongsville three-star offensive tackle John “J.D.” Duplain to campus on Saturday, which marked his first time in Columbus in a recruiting capacity. A life-long fan of the Buckeyes, he attended a game several years ago.

NEW NAME AT A FAMILIAR SCHOOL
Things may not have worked out between Ohio State and Dayton Dunbar three-star running back Tavion Thomas last cycle, but that certainly won't impact the Buckeyes' pursuit of his former teammate, three-star offensive tackle Jonathan Allen, whom the staff also invited to campus this weekend.

“It went great, actually,” Allen told Eleven Warriors. “I was happy to talk to the coaches and get an insight on how they are about grades first, then sports. That really caught my attention. And it was great to put on Ohio State clothing and take pictures.”
