Game Thread Iowa at tOSU, Homecoming, Oct 19, 3:30 ET, ABC/ESPN/ESPN2

Iowa is a #70 to #90 offense on every computer ranking that I looked at. They only scored more points on 0-7 Western Michigan.

Northern Illinois, Missouri State, Iowas State, Minnesota...these are not the names of powerhouse defenses.

I take the point that Iowa had two weeks to prepare--as will Penn State and Purdue--but Ohio State also had two weeks to prepare.

I take no solace from the second half performance. Ohio State has a lot of problems on defense and those problems need to be addressed now.

Agreed. It's mind boggling how our pass defense has made some very average QBs look like Manning this season, and I have a feeling this could very well cost us a game down the road. But for my own sanity I have given up hope for a stellar defense this year and I'm just trying to enjoy every W that comes our way :oh:

True. But the switched up their Offense with multiple TE sets that was not there before. The D had to adjust to something they did expect. They played poorly the 1st half, but adjusted well to win.

This.
This defense has flat out sucked at times and is mediocre as a rule. The results of conference play are bearing this out as Northwestern, formerly considered a "quality" win is showing their true colors. This conference is an embarrassment and being the best team in it means exactly squat unless you are pounding your opponents.

Unless Urban makes some coaching changes I don't see anything being different. As much as people want to malign the LBs, the CBs and Safeties have been suspect at best. Grant may be the top player in that group. Roby appears to have checked out, Reeves is not ready and the safeties just seem to be in the wrong places. Iowa ran the sane plays they have for years and we weren't ready for them at the start of the game. When you look at the guys we have recruited you really have to start thinking that something is amiss somewhere else.

We have an amazing offense and Braxton and Cars are phenomenal. Definite da da da da da da plays back to back when we needed that score in the second half. But, you have to give a big hand to the Oline today. Great holes, great protection, minimal mistakes, just a great game by this group. Loved seeing Wilson and Hyde in at the same time.
