iPhone, Safari, BP, Porn Popups

Mac

That's a pain in the buns
So I'm doing som research as this appears to continue to happen (although randomly)

This ONLY happens while on BP in Safari (I don't use other browsers) on my iPhone. I will be on BP, put my phone down for some time, re-load BP, and it redirects me to some porn site called "badoink". I don't look at porn, so there's no way for my phone to be loading these pages.

Anyone else have these issues on Safari?

Admins can you look into this?

Anyone have any ideas on how to fix it? I've tried a restore, clearing history/cookies/etc. I've done research and it appears it happens to others, but only by visiting 1 website.

I'm getting fed up with this popping up, esp when I'm on my phone at work. Not sure if its a BP issue, or a Safari issue, but the research I've found says its some kind of server that hacks ads or something like that?

Any help would be great!

The ever-reloading browser aside, I view BP exclusively on an iOS device in Safari. I haven't experienced this myself. The worst I've seen lately is a floating survey pop that slid across the bottom of a page and then disappeared. Pissed me right off.

Researching it, it seems to be a poisoned cookie. You've cleared those, did you also clear your cache?

I can't begin to speak to where that cookie may have come from. Could have been one of our ad partners, and I'll aggressively investigate that, but as I said I haven't personally seen this. Maybe others have? Definitely need more info.

Is BP the only site you load in Safari?

Is your iOS device jailbroken? If not, you should be able to clear cookies, clear cache, do a hard restart, and this should go away.

I've just done a full scan of our site, checked all our iframes, checked our headers, and several loads of our ads -- all *seems* well, but clearly there's a problem here, so we'll figure it out.

I've got multiple pages open in safari. It only happens within the BP tab. It happens randomly (not just at work). It's happened more than 5 times.

I have cleared everything. It is jailbroken. The only thing I haven't done is a wipe of the phone and starting fresh.

5 times today? Or over what period of time?

I've cut out one of our remnant providers, nuked most mobile ads for the others, and contacted the remaining providers asking them to review and aggressively cut lower tier campaigns just out of an abundance of caution. Their reviews, so far, have come back clean. So too have the battery of site scans I've done. Doesn't mean there isn't an issue somewhere, or that we'll stop looking.

That said, that it only happens on the BP tab is less telling than the fact that it sounds like it only produces between loads. May simply look for a specific trigger. Definitely seems to act like something on your phone or in the browser. The question is where it came from and how to get rid of it.

I've been aggressively loading the site last night and today on my ipad trying to reproduce, without luck, but I'll try on my phone as well. I know we have a substantial number of iPhone browsers, maybe someone else has seen it and not yet reported (please do).

When is the last time you got it, and what page were you on? Also, when did it start?

I have gotten this on my iPhone using the Chrome App. I does only happen while on BP as well. I just clear the cookies and cache and it stops for awhile. Can't give you any specifics on the thread ore area it comes up, but usually when I am switching pages or threads.

I am sure it is a buried line in an Ad somewhere.

It's happened 5 times (maybe a few more) total, within about 3 weeks.

I am usually in the Open Discussion or Gaming pages. Last time I got it was the night before I started this thread, and it started probably 3 weeks before that. After it happened I cleared cache, browsing history, cookies, etc. it has not appeared since.

From a little research it has happened to many different people on many different sites. Sounds like some kind of back door into ads that force feeds itself to load.

It's a little scary is when it happens at work (thankfully about 90% of the time not connected to my company's Wifi). Not blaming BP for this, trying to just prevent it from happening anymore.

I'll try to provide more if it happens again.

I appreciate the comments, and don't worry about blame, we all just want to stomp stuff like this out. I've made substantial changes to our low end ads. It takes a couple hours for things to clear the various ad services. Please (any and all) let me know if you see any more of these.

Beyond ads I worry about vbSEO, but everything seems kosher there. If that is the problem somehow, we should be free of it on Sunday for ever.

Sorry, all, stuff like this just shouldn't happen.

blocks? I thought this thread was to help people figure out how to get this to work on their phones.
