Izzo meets with the Cavs to discuss job offer.

is there any doubt he's signing somewhere else? he'd be "100% on board" with Izzo as coach....but he won't give Izzo 5 seconds to say 'I'll come back if you coach'. LeBron is LeGone.

Yup. Some irrational souls will continue to hold out hope, but it's O-V-E-R.

Not really LeBron's job to talk or intervene in the coaching search seeing as how he considers himself a free agent, but still more of the same from LBJ.

I disagree, for a couple of reasons.

1. If Lebron is leaning towards leaving Cleveland, he should at least have given Izzo a hint of that before he potentially leaves a good situation in E. Lansing. (and maybe he did do this through back channels)

2. If Lebron is leaning towards staying in Cleveland AND if he truly liked Izzo as a coach, he should have let him know that so the team doesn't lose Izzo as a possibility.

3.Either way, when a future HOF coach give you a call, you return it. No excuses. Even if all you have to say is, "It's an honor to receive your call, but I'm sorry I can't help your decision. I have my own to make and I have no idea what I am doing at this point."

Lebron is the biggest thing going on in basketball right now. He knows it. But it's disrespectful to ignore a well-respected coach like Tom Izzo.

I'm at the point (with the NBA in general) that I'm just tuning it all out. If LeBron comes back, great. If not, it won't bother me nearly as much as I thought it would have. My growing disdain for the NBA in general (mainly the product they're putting on TV) is really helping in the fact that I'm just finding it less and less interesting. I've watched probably 20 minutes TOTAL of the conference finals and finals...and witnessed about 40 fouls called. It's just awful. I was watching some of the BOS-ORL series with my wife and after about the fifth (literally) foul called in about 60 seconds (in the first quarter, mind you), she said "this is so boring". I agreed completely and changed the channel. Even the Cavs-BOS series took incredible effort to watch much of the time, regardless of who was winning.

Sadly, I agree with a lot you are saying here. Ticky-tacky fouls and prima donna superstars who whine and complain with every single call is getting old. I think the fact that Lebron gave Cleveland hope for a title has distracted us from the fact that the NBA game itself has evolved into a product that is not as good as it was 20-30 years ago.
I'm almost to a point where I hope we sign and trade Lebron for as much talent as we can possibly get, bring in an old school coach (one that understands match ups and takes advantage of them, plays fundamental, simple basketball, that preaches hard nosed defense yet understands how to put players in the right situations on a consistent basis). If Lebron does come back I will root for him and the Cavs, Cleveland needs a title.

That's about 20 mins. more than I've watched.

A lot of animosity toward Lebron on here. Just trying to figure out where people are coming from.

Am I the only one around here that thinks:

  1. Even if Lebron leaves, the Cavs were much better off for having Lebron here.
  2. If I'm Lebron and I have a chance to go down as THE BEST bball player of all time (no matter how remote you think that chance is), I'm sure as hell going to make sure the next team I'm signing with gives me the best chance to win a championship.
  3. Given 2, if I'm Lebron, I'm going to wait as long as I need to before deciding what is the best situation for me.
  4. Given 3, if I'm Lebron, I have no clue right now where I'm going to sign.
  5. I form my sports opinions based on what I think I would do in that situation, not what I want to happen as a fan.
To me, all 5 of these are not right or wrong and reasonable people can disagree. Does the negativity toward Lebron have to do with disagreeing with me on 1-5, or is it something else?

LeBron needs only remember and be cognizant of the hostility and hatred of Art Modell... to the day he dies, Modell will be hated in NE Ohio... Modell feels it to the point he never sets foot in NE Ohio.. maybe Lebron needs to call Art and ask him if the Super Bowl title was worth it.. I suspect not

LeBron has stated for the last 25 years, that NE OH, Akron and Cleveland mean everything to him... If he makes a move, he'd have to move his residence.. can you imagine him trying to hold a fund raising event in Akron.. or showing up at ST V or Akron U... Modell part II

He can get max deal wherever he goes.. so money is not the object...

What I fear now is that he is alienating his Cav teammates because what he's doing is implicitly telling everyone he doesn't believe they are good enough to play with him... that he can't win with them... which is pretty ironic considering this team has more victories than any team in the NBA for two years running...

LBJ is showing signs of immaturity right now... and the immaturity of his influencers such as Mav Carter... Just what is LBJ looking for? He could win it all with Kobe, but then it'd always be because of Kobe... He could win in Chicago, but he'd never be as good as Jordan...

I can understand having to part ways with Brown... but only if you are sure you can get someone better... and not sure that's happening... Losing Ferry is big... that dents the image of the Cavs to everyone in the NBA that matters...

And all this because of Lebron

I'm tired of the win now attitude that he has given the organization while they have bent over backwards for him. As many have stated if he would have just given the organization some kind of commitment, last summer, this summer or anytime it would have been easier to attract better free agents into Cleveland(i.e. Trevor Ariza). Gilbert has done just about everything he possibly can since becoming the owner of the Cavs to give Lebron a chance to bring a title to Cleveland, yet he couldn't just give a solid commitment back to to them to help them make the team even better.

More of his general attitude towards things....he never talked to Tom Izzo. Even if all 5 of your points are true, why not reach out to Izzo and tell him he can't help with his his decesion, he has his own to make. Takes 2 minutes and its the respectful thing to do.

LeBron is caught up in his free-agency like the attention starving senior who shuffles his hats on signing day. The Larry King interview where he says Cleveland has an "edge", not calling Izzo b/c he doesn't want to tip his hand in free-agency, his "camp" saying he wants to test the market when their is no market to speak of...he gets a max-deal wherever he signs, no suspense in that.

It's all just a bit annoying at this point. I kind of thought it'd be fun to follow, but instead it's irritating. And LeBron hasn't even been in the public eye...the "Worldwide Wes" garbage, his handlers leaking info, the Calipari mess...it's fair to say he's the best player in the world so these things are going to happen.....but nothing even close to this has ever happened with Kobe, Wade, Carmelo, etc. LeBron is creating this circus...
