I'm hearing that it was a Breast Cancer Awareness charity event where everyone received gift bags. The gift bag included a T-Shirt, mouse pad, and various small things/trinkets. Supposedly the sum of the items included does not come close to $300 but that is the price they put on receiving the free stuff at the event?
The report said, "less than $300." Implies some sort of trigger level at $300.

Unreal. :shake:

Call me reactionary, but at this point, I'd be kicking people off the fucking team for this shit.

This shit is exactly why my excitement for the coming season is at the lowest of my lifetime. I'm more excited for basketball because this football shit has ground my patience to a stump.

What were the "benefits," though? Was it a ticketed charity event where the tickets were like $100+ and an overpriced drink bar with benefits going to charity? Received in this instance probably does not mean handed money or even a tangible item. If it was a charity dinner, eh... If it wasn't, though, and they actually "received" something of value, then yeah, big lapse of judgement.

Either way they broke the rules, which should result in a punishment. If this was after they signed and was a high-ticket charity dinner, I can kinda shrug my shoulders and move on. If it was actually receiving something...how stupid can you be?

EDIT: If it really is for getting a gift bag or something like that at a charity event...wtf!?

The latest admission could affect Ohio State's previous case before the NCAA, which was heard on Aug. 12.
??????? I don't see how, unless they view the same stuff happening is a sign of FTM on the last three...and that would have nothing to do with Aug 12.

They have no business throwing out that tag line unless they have something of substance to add to it - or at least some short explanation why they say it. That's bullshit.

I can't fault them for putting our stupidity on their front page (it's only a headline, not the main feature with a huge story/video...yet).

Ohio State suspending 3 big contributors just days before the opener after the off-season we've had is a big deal...
Pretty much.

Nothing shocks me anymore, that's the sad thing. :so:

Are you fucking kidding me? These are three of the guys I really wanted to watch this Saturday. A gift bag from a breast cancer awareness event? Really?? This is what players are getting suspended over now? What a joke.

That's what I heard. Whether or not that is 100% true...I do not know.
