Jahsen Wint and Amir Riep FOUND NOT GUILTY

In the USA everyone should be "presumed innocent until proven guilty" and if they end up being acquitted and/or cleared of all charges; I would hope Ohio State gives them the financial assistance necessary to complete their degree.
you do know that being cleared of charges isn't the same as being innocent, don't you? wint and riep's charges may be dropped, but that doesn't necessarily mean they're innocent. "presumed innocent until proven guilty" is for the courtroom. ryan day and the athletic department, on the other hand, aren't required to have dna evidence or courtroom testimony to know some unacceptable behavior took place and that ties must be completely severed.

Which is why I agree with Day’s statement that they didn’t live up to the university and team’s expectations of them. They can be cleared of charges but the actions and situation they put themselves is not what is expected of a student athlete.

You don't need to read it anywhere.. just ask yourself how many of such videos YOU have in your collection. Cause I'll tell you what, I've got zero. Zero times have I had sex and thought ... you know what... I think I'd better get their consent on tape.
Don't know about videos, but I know that back in the late 20th century it was not unusual for colleges to suggest that couples sign a contract before having consensual sex to avoid false charges of rape. Thinking of Stanford swimmer, Brock Turner, and wonder if he might have been trying to get consensual statement from passed out drunk victim before his adventure was interrupted.

perhaps someone's already commented about this, but one thing i found particularly discomforting is that, according to the alleged victim, either wint or riep told her to take a shower before she was driven home. so they recorded her "consenting" statement and had her wash off a lot of the evidence. sounds like they had... uh... experience.

Yeah, I was thinking the same thing. Well, sorta, I was thinking it had shades of the Raul Rodriguez dude who kept saying "I'm in fear for my life" so I can claim self defense later even though I came here to shoot you... (If I inartfully recounted that case in some way, not important, you get the idea)

I still think that's odd behavior... but then, I wasn't ever one to have casual sex with people I had just met (call it a severe aversion to VD), so maybe the concept of being accused of something just doesn't register with me. In any case, there's a big difference between getting evidence consent before and creating evidence of consent after the act.

yes, it was unusual. ohio's own antioch took up the cause in the 90s and was widely mocked. anyone who has been in college the last 30 years knows that suggesting a contract is mostly (or completely) unheard of. heck, antioch didn't even push for paper contracts to be signed by both parties. they just pushed for ongoing affirmations as sexual activities escalate. yeah, it sounds a little strange, but i guess "strange" is sometimes what you're left with when half the population has a huge problem with raping others.

anyway, pointing to some rare situations here and there and then saying, "see, what wint and riep did isn't so uncommon" is an odd line to take.
