I don't find it ironic that we lost out on these three kids today...

Parson says JT blows crank...
Carmen says JT blows crank...
And... wait for it....
Woodbey says he will start day 1 when he gets here which totally disrespects our current players.

All of this happened after our loss to OU.

NONE of the other recruits (now players) said a word about their future teammates.

So learn from this UFM and staff...if anyone trashes your current team or your direction just cut bait with all of them. I don't care if they're the next Reggie freaking Bush you move on.

If you want to understand recruiting take a 17 year old to a used car dealership and watch the salesman go to work.

Woodbey is going to a school where he has a two day relationship, that finished 6th in their division and has the #44 recruiting class right now. Yes, they only have 9 commits, but after today the pickings are getting slimmer and the competition more fierce.

If starting day one is so important he should have gone to the MAC and played both ways.

Basically yeah... the key is to be the last salesman to give the pitch

It wouldnt have mattered with woodbey since it seemed he didn't have the grades. However having the last chance is monumental and normally UFM doesn't allow anyone to have the last shot at a recruit.

Another reason why I don't think UFM cared what these 3 did. This is very uncharacteristic of UFM to allow this kind of finish and again I don't think it's ironic given the 3 kids that didn't commit.

Call it sour grapes. I don’t care. Up until the last 10 days you just judge a player by his athletic prowess. And he’s a stud. I’ve said as much and there’s no doubting his skills on the field.

But then you get a glimpse of the kid himself. It’s really hard to think a guy like this is good in the locker room. I didn’t realize until a member here pointed out yesterday that he claimed he would be a starter Day one. And then looking at the end of his recruitment and last night in particular. Just watching some of his tweets towards the end, his Periscope link, etc. Ugh. No thanks. Felt very Tyjon Lindsey-esque.

It’s just really hard not to think it’s addition by subtraction “missing” on a guy like this. I’m a big believer in chemistry and I’m just not sold on primas like that being worth it. To some extent you have to pinch your nose and take great athletes but there’s a limit. Surely, Urb would have taken him but I’m perfectly fine taking less elite guys unless they also have the whole package- guys like Bell. Give me him every few cycles mixed with Powell, Hooker, Pryor, etc all day (and I think Pryor is a future star btw). Point is, there are plenty of good/great athletes you can win with, especially when you mix in a few great/elite guys here and there who have all the intangibles. In this cycle you have 2 studs who could BOTH prove to be elite safeties in Proctor and Johnson. Do you really need Woodbey that bad? Fair question.

Good point, I think if character was an issue then I think looking elsewhere is a smart choice. Talent and potential is great and all but I want the guy that loves to play for his team and plays with heart and not play selfishly. Another reason I tend to like Ohio guys who have grown up bleeding scarlet and grey.
