Jaiden Woodbey (DB Florida State, transfer to Boston College)

The reason we have lost so many coveted recruits like Carmen, Woodbey, and Cox is because they know Barrett is not better than Haskins and cost us the chance to compete for a title. They know Meyer is highly overrated, and relies too much on great assistants to win. They are right. Which is why I wanted Dantonio a long time ago.

“Florida State has been my dream school since I was like 10 years old, so it was kind of the school that was going to factor everything out,” Woodbey said. “I’ve always wanted that offer. That’s the offer I have always thought about. No matter what school I was going to, I was thinking ‘What if I went to Florida State?’ But I never got the offer until last minute and it was an opportunity that I couldn’t pass up.”

That's when the wheels started moving. Still new in his job at Florida State, Taggart had a conversation with Gainer about Woodbey. Taggart was very familiar with Woodbey, the No. 2 safety in the 2018 class in the 247Sportscomposite rankings, because he offered him a scholarship while still the head coach at Oregon.

“I was never really sold on Oregon,” Woodbey said. “I was sold on Florida State.”

Taggart followed Woodbey on Twitter, asked the defensive back to call him, then sealed the deal on the fastest, most unbelievable recruitment of a five-star player you'll ever see.

“I just needed the offer, honestly,” Woodbey said. “I would have gone there regardless of the situation, honestly. That's Florida State and that's the school I wanted to go to when I was kid. It was a school that I kind of thought was out of reach, so before my senior season started I was kind of like 'forget them,' but they offered me, and all that love came back.
